Good for the Jets, he's a terrific bottom 6 forward.

Yeah, I really like him as a bottom 6 guy. Will be interesting to see what he got money-wise.

Maybe $1.9M per. Would be solid.

He got 21 points last year, I will go by my rule of thumb and say the cap hit will be 2.1m.

That's awesome that they got him to agree to play for them without any terms attached.

Good deal for the Jets

I wouldn't say he's a "terrific" bottom 6 forward, but a very good one.

DAMN!

I really wanted him on the Devils if one of our fourth liners didn't return next year.

Good deal for Winnipeg, barring ridiculous terms. Lucky them.

Fantastic news! I remember in one of the jets intermission gigs that they run, he was voted by the players as the guy who would be captain if it changed hands. The guy is just awesome.

Very happy that Chevy got this done. Also a really nice tweet:

Jim Slater says it was pretty easy negotiations. Told his agent that staying in Wpg was his first choice ‪#nhljets‬

Love this re-signing and the terms. Slater was a warrior for us on the ice, is a solid leader and very quickly became loved in Winnipeg for his community work and attitude. Really classy guy out and about too. Great to have him back on a very team-friendly contract.

Slater told TSN his preference was to stay in Winnipeg, and that negotiations were easy.

I was hoping the Blackhawks would take a stab at getting him. Good signing for the Jets.

Many considered Slater our number 1 UFA to resign.

VERY happy he's resigned, and love the contract.

With the right linemates, he could handle 3rd line duties.

Thorburn isn't a UFA and he's signed to a great deal for WPG.
