Excellent news!!

VERY happy that we brought back Slater. I agree 100% with YWGinYYZ. With better linemates I think Slater can handle the 3rd line. He has the skating, and has better hands than he got to show with Glass and Thorburn.

Plus, that allows us to play Cormier on the 4th with Glass(presumably) and Thorburn, as if Cormier does in fact make the team he shouldn't be playing more, and in more important situations than Slater.

Beauty! Great to hear that it was an easy choice. I hope more of these comments roll in and players see how great of a place it is to play.

Nice! Always great when two sides get an agreed upon price that is reasonable for both parties.

About $500,000 too much, but I'm glad we kept Slater.

Hoping we let Glass go though.

Awesome news.

I agree with having him on the 3rd line with an upgrade on his two wingers. Would like to see Glass (hopefully he signs soon) and Thorbs with Cormier on the 4th line, that line would match-up well against other teams 4th lines. The GST line got into trouble when playing a shut-down role against the other team's top 6.

Slater is a gritty, agitating, effective guy in the bottom 6 that every team needs. Glad he's back.

Yay Slates. I'm glad to see that he was keenly interested in re-signing with us.

Since this is a big Slater love-in, I gotta say -- as big of a fan as I was through the whole season, the moment for me that I remember best was when he scored the tying goal in the last game vs. Tampa Bay.

You could just SEE how pumped he was, he was yelling like it was a playoff goal. At that point they weren't playing for anything obviously, but you could tell how badly he wanted to tie it up for the crowd and try for one last win. That's heart, and it was so much fun to see.

Does anyone know where it was speculated that Glass's new deal is 85% done?

They're in the middle of negotiations with Glass apparently... unfortunately
I'd say probs 300thou too much when keeping in mind term but with dry FA this year that probs pushes it up 100-200thou... so really it's pretty close

Just watch how much Jay McClement will get. Then you'll know the value for that type of player.
