Van - Nash

If Weber wont commit too nash ( i understand that is all nash fans #1 desire)

Edler + conditional first (he extends) 2012 or 2013

for

Weber

Thoughts?

If Weber committed to a long term deal, sure, done deal. If its just for one season of Weber, no thanks.

Probably the best deal Nashville could expect. Deal that'd be on the table now but won't be next year (kinda like Jersey fans rejecting traded involving Schneider for Parise last year).

I'd do it as a Nucks fan either way... Think the op is more interested in Predators fans' responses though.

It's the only way I see Nashville getting a potential #1 back if weber does plan to leave

We have to sign edler next year anyway. So we are in the same boat as nashville.

Both guys seem pretty low maitenence and signable. There is no team anywhere near sweden so Nashville is as close as any NA market for elder.

Van is a contender, spends to the cap and weber lives in kelowna in the offseason. Plus hamhuis and him where friends (could be wrong) i dont see van having a problem signing him unless he wants north of 7 mill.

Im a huge edler fan but you have to give to get.

If Weber is against resigning in Nashville and is open to Vancouver, do it.(Unless he is determined to sign in Vancouver after next year, as then we have an Edler-Weber pairing-Drool on my fellow Canucks.)

Besides the fact van bounced you a couple years back and or you dont want weber to leave... Why?? Van is one of the best teams in the league with good assets in every position..

Its not like i offered ballard and raymond. I offered a legit top 4 now with top pairing potential for your pending ufa that might have mentaly packed his bags.

If Weber somehow, like Hamhuis, made it known he wanted to go to the Canucks, I could see this deal. If he would go anywhere, he could fetch a lot more on the open market. But I'm sure the Preds' top priority is to sign him long term.

As for Preds fans not wanting any Canucks players, I can understand some exasperation at these proposals, but that is just silly...

personally I would love to see Weber a Canuck, but think it's a long shot right now.

Don't really see why Nashville would do this. Its not like Edler is locked up long term either or anything. He's a UFA next year and could just as easily walk as Weber.

If Nashville was to lose Weber, I could see them trading him to an Eastern team, not a Western.

Since Edler is a pending UFA, we're in the same boat with him or Weber. Might as well keep the superior player. The 1st is conditional, you're not really offering anything that helps Nashville out after Weber leaves.

I'd have to believe Nashville could do better than that if we let the entire NHL know that we were shopping him.

this deal sucks for nashville. edler doesn't hold a candle to weber. the difference is greater than a conditional 1st.

canucks fans.. would you trade kesler for fisher and a conditional 1st IF kesler extended with us.. (all hypothetical). . edler is a great defenseman and he brings alot. but he isn't in the same conversation as weber and for good reason.

Here is your problem.

Nobody will hold a candle to weber.. Your not getting chara or doughty back..

So your looking at the second tier of NHL talent.. Edler is in that bracket.. the first is to make up the difference between edler and weber..

Like i said in op this is based around weber not signing. As a canuck fan if he hits UFA i like our chances to sign him for 0 assets as good as any.

Edler is UFA. Even then the timing isn't right. Before anyone could offer any assets (assuming they have them), Nashville would have to know what Weber's intentions are and vice versa.

As far as Canucks fans go, this topic has been beaten to death and needs to be let go.

ahh, i remember you.. you have discussed this topic before.

weber's value is tremendously high. you trying to downplay his value to somewhere close to edler's is just funny.. also, please point me to anything that shows weber saying he wants out of nashville? please ..

I'm just gonna stay out of this thread. no point, been there done that

I think Vancouver needs to add. The premise of the deal isn't bad tho.

To

Shea Weber

To

Alex Edler
Niklas Jensen
1 st (Conditional)

Jensen is Van's best prospect.

Not saying it's right, but we've been getting it for Kesler, Luongo and even Schneider for the last....2 months?

I don't think Edler are nearly as close as he seems to want to make them, but Edler is our number one, he is a legitimate top 30 (I'd argue top 15) defender, and your wording makes me think you don't believe he is such. Weber is a top 5 easily. This is a hypothetical situation, in which case...you can do a lot worse. I also don't think Weber is eager to jump out of a top role, on a contending team, with a good coach, good management, good player locked up, that is willing to pay him what he is worth (with no taxes...).
