It's one thing to tell an athlete he can't make those comments while representing the team and the league, and I think suspending him for a game is well in order. But come on. Does anyone actually think Khalif Mitchell is a racist? He's an idiot, and when he says he didn't know the word is considered racist, yeah, that's probably true. Not everyone gets taught this stuff.
Glen Suitor is going to have a field day with this. "Where is the leadership in that locker room?"
Mitchell is very close to not being worth the trouble. He can be a beast when he's on but we haven't seen that this year. He's been invisible when he's actually been on the field and a disaster off of it. If he screws up again, I'd rather see him jettisoned and let a no-drama young guy like Westerman - who is also a ratio-buster - earn a starting job.

Not only that but is it really that important? KM is a nobody and nothing he does has any effect on our lives. We all need to just move on because life sure as heck will. I don't support or agree with what was said but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
Pretty good quarter from Reilly. Jackson should have had that one in the end zone that he slipped through double coverage, that was a really nice throw.
I don't know about you guys, but I love this Reilly guy. I'm not completely sure I would let this guy go to Ottawa in the expansion draft because they will take him if we make him available.
I appreciate what Lulay has done for us, but I think Reilly is a better QB than Lulay. It isn't a shot at Lulay because he is also a great QB, but everything I look for in a prototypical QB, I see in Reilly. Reilly reminds me of Ricky Ray. He can make throws look effortless.
The offense looks so smooth with Reilly leading the charge.

I highly doubt we let a Grey Cup Champ, MOP etc etc go to Ottawa.
Lions clinch first in the West and home advantage for the West final. Hopefully they don't go on cruise control like the Canucks did last year.
Nice game by Reilly.
When we won the Grey Cup last year, with Wally retiring; Elimimian, Mitchell and Olafioye potentially going to the NFL; and our kicker being another year older, I wouldn't have expected this team to be 12-4 (even though I knew we had a sick team). This team is beastly.

It's one game. Lulay's been a proven, consistent starter since he took the wheel.
Maybe, maybe not. I just think we may have a better QB in Reilly.
You seemed to have really bought the Reilly hype from Cuthbert and Suitor. It was one game, I'll gladly take the more proven guy who was the M.O.P last year over Mike Reilly.

Agreed. Reilly did good tonight, but I haven't seen enough of Reilly to even dream of taking Reilly over Lulay. Would be a HUGE mistake if we protected Reilly over Lulay for the expansion draft, unless Lulay completely falls off his stellar play, and Reilly leads the team which I doubt.
Most of what Reilly appeared deficient in tonight (the speed of his decision-making, his pocket positioning) is stuff that will improve a lot with game experience. But yeah, you don't give up a guy who's proven himself to be the kind of QB who only comes along once every few years in this league for somebody who might eventually get that good.
And we had a couple of other rookies looking good tonight. Hopefully Khalif Mitchell is scared straight after how well Westerman and Jordan played. Pretty evident that he's not irreplaceable.
Man, after watching the TSN Lions locker-room vid... this team is just bloody awesome.
I can't recall seeing a team in any sport that seems so cohesive both on the field of play, as well as off the field. So happy for these guys and can't wait for the playoffs.
I've said it all year and I'll say it again. I've never seen a team so dominant in the CFL.
Maybe mid-2000s Alouettes, but even then... I think this team is absolutely ready to compete for the Grey Cup.
The 14-3-1 2007 Lions are a worthy comparison. More offensive than this squad, but not as good on D.
I have to agree with what I heard after the game, if Lulay's shoulder is the slightest bit sore, rest him vs. Calgary so he's good to go vs. the Riders. Same goes for Geory and Bruce.
