3 Ranger Questions

Curious what you think of these 3 questions

-what is the greatest ranger game you ever saw
-what is the greatest ranger save
-what is the greatest goal

now imo i need to count importance, so...

-game 7 devils rangers 1994
awesome intense game, back and fourth, a little bit of everything

-richter bure pen shot 94
not only a great save but clutch

-leetch 1st goal game 7
now i know many of you will pick mateau, but imo this goal really set the tone and without out we probably don't win that game, a awesome set up, seeing the great passing play finished by a poise leetch was perfect

I'll assume you mean games saw in person?

For me:

1) ECSM 2012 Game 5 Rangers/Caps - "The Richards/Staal Miracle" (Will never forget that moment)
2) Henrik Lundqvist's penalty shot save at the WC at Citizens Bank Park (My whole section was Ranger fans and we were all going absolutely nuts)
3) ECQF 2008 Game 4 Rangers/Devils - Rangers 4th goal, Staal scores with under 2 minutes in regulation to win the game (Not that pretty of a goal but it meant a lot to me because it was the first playoff win I ever saw)

For this year, the question isn't even fair.

Don't have a video for a save though.

Game - Winter Classic (my bro's went to game 5 against Washington )

Goal - Richards GWG at the Winter Classic

Save - Lundqvist penalty shot in the Winter Classic. I was on the Rangers road trip thing and my whole section was Ranger fans, I was sitting next to Dancing Larry, I kid you not. I still love watching the CBC feed and hearing the huge roar from Ranger fans when he saved it.

Will be pretty much the same as the others

Game: Game 5 Washington

Goal: Last year's final regular season game, Drury

Save: Forgot who, but I remember Hank saved a penalty shot against one of the bug stars (think it was Crosby)

Too many.

Ill do just this season

Save: Lundqvist on Paajarvi against the oilers i think it was, way early in the season.

Goal: Rangers/Caps Game 5, Richards tying goal. It just had me in total disbelief...Unreal. I didn't even believe it, I was in shock haha.

Game: Winter Classic

I agree with the first two, in my opinion, impossible to argue. Also, as you kinda implied, the Matteau goal is really the clearcut winner...but in interest of keeping it from going boring fast, I'll just list personal favorites

^^^Though the vid cut out most of the fight footage from that night, as a diehard bluedshirt I felt 10 feet taller that night cuz of McCarthy and Fleury.
EDIT-Watching this video puts me right back when it happened. ******* awesome!

^^^The second one or his hairline pad save vs Buffalo in OT 2007

^^^The magnitude of the situation...never would've seen the Matteau goal.

You only say that because we won the cup that year, Had the rangers won the cup this year that game 5 Richards goal would have went down as moment/goal of the year hands down.

(and no im not discrediting game 7 vs jersey but to compare the 2 in different era's and rosters so and so and to say "it doesn't hold a candle" is ridiculous)

You are right it doesn't. But what would be the point of the thread if we were all saying '94 stuff. I did just this season because everything would probably from '94.

It's too obvious

I think one of the best saves was the one on Savard, that was sick.

Ranger fan since 2004 and that season was pretty crappy. The whole presence with Jagr and his magical season really got me interested in hockey.

I was born in to the Rangers. I am 19 and have been watching all my life, my earliest memories are from 96. My first game was in 97 against the Red Wings at the age of 4, and I remember crying on the subway on the way there because Gretzky was not going to play because of injuries, don't remember the score, but I am pretty sure the Rangers lost. The greatest save I have ever seen was probably Richter on Bulis during the 01-02 season posted above. My favorite Ranger moment has been posted already with McCarthy and Fleury making the Isles look like *****es. Greatest goal would have to be either McD last second OT goal or the 2 Richards last second goals against Phoenix and Washington.

Oh I also cried when Gretzky retired and I hated Jagr for scoring the OT goal. He was my favorite player when I was younger and I still have the "The Great One Takes Manhattan" Poster in a frame on my wall.

First off, I'm definitely not a bandwaggoner. Been a fan since birth in '96. Father has been a fan since birth as well in 1968.

This season
Game: Winter Classic. Awesome atmoshphere. One of the greatest experiences of my life. Loved every second of it.

Goal: Richards goal vs Washington with 6.6secs left. My house was as loud as the Garden after that one. My father, mother, uncle, and two of my friends and I were all screaming and hugging each other. Awesome.

Save: Lundqvist penalty shot save on Briere was sick. Sucked the wind right out of the building and seeing approximately 35,000 Flyer fans leave in a foul mood while the 15,000 Ranger fans celebrated put a smile on my face.

Awesome season. Wish for much of the same (and more!) next year.
