Now that's what I call a very astute post.

Trading away half the farm for a hit-or-miss goal scorer at this stage will set the organization back.

Why traded anybody for Nash when a freebie can provide the same production.

Again, no one is advocating trading half the farm for Nash. In a deal that is fair for both sides? Yes. and Nash is not a hit or miss goal scorer, on a horrible organization, he's good for 30 or more per year.

Parise said he doesnt want to come here.
Doan is not leaving PHX

What do you guys think about this?

1. Del Zotto, Stepan, Miller, 1st for Patrick Kane

2. Sign Jason Arnott for 1 year, 2 million

Kreider Richards Gaborik
Dubinsky Arnott Kane
Hagelin Anisimov Callahan
Rupp Boyle Prust
Mitchell

Staal Girardi
McDonagh Schultz
Erixon McIlrath / Sauer / Stralman

Lundqvist
Biron

Then after the season, we try to move Gaborik (who will have 1 year remaining on his deal) for the best possible return to clear space and throw a huge offer at Jordan Staal or Ryan Getzlaf if either one gets to UFA.

Potential Top 6:

Kreider Richards Kane
Dubinsky J.Staal/Getzlaf Callahan

Again, 30 goals at 7.6 mil a season, the last and next 1st rounders, a prospect and two roster players, or 30 goals at under 1 million, under 22 years and no cost in players whatsoever?

Tough choice.

is Kane better than Nash? I think that package would get either one.

Erixon was reportedly offered in a trade at the deadline. That would lead me to believe he isn't off-limits.

Kane is more dynamic than Nash and more of the creative highly skilled catalyst we need.

Also, what stands out to me is that in 51 career playoff games, Kane has 52 points.

That's HUGE.

Kane is also cheaper with less term.

He's still not going anywhere. Bowman will give the current core at least one more chance.

I've always liked Kane, I'm not sure he's even available though.

If Patrick Kane came to New York City he would party himself into a coma within a week. Not to mention I just don't see Chicago trading him.

Are you talking about Evander Kane or Patrick Kane?

Nobody with the last name of Kane is coming to this team, so why talk about it?

I would do bad things to get Pat Kane on this team. I just don't think we have what they would require for a trade.

I would rather not have Kane on this team. Especially considering the likely assets required.

Chicago is tired of Kane and was ready to flip him for Tim Thomas for christ's sake (which is why Timmay is taking a year off). He's available but to how many teams who knows, Chicago reallllllly needs a goalie and we can't offer one.

In all honesty, I think we're likely to see a lineup like this to start the season:

Sign Semin
Sign Schultz

Kreider Richards Semin
Dubinsky Stepan Gaborik
Hagelin Anisimov Callahan
Rupp Boyle Prust
Mitchell

Staal Girardi
McDonagh Schultz
Del Zotto Erixon / McIlrath / Sauer / Stralman

Lundqvist
Biron

Then we re-evaluate our needs in January / February before the deadline and act accordingly.

And in all honesty, I'd be happy with that. Semin has been in Ovechkin's shadow his entire career. He could be the guy WE set up for one-timer after one-timer on the PP and he could score 40-50 playing with Richie and Kreids. I think his attitude/work ethic issues are overblown and he's maturing just like Kovalchuk is as he gets older. I'd give Semin a 3-4 year deal at 5 million cap-hit. I think that's fair for all parties involved.

Thoughts?

Have the Rangers expressed any interest in Semin?

He's got a ridiculous wrister.
