Say Columbus takes Galchenyuk at 2.

JVR for the 3rd, with Murray on the board? That's something I consider pretty strongly. We'd probably need to add--maybe a future 2nd; maybe someone like MAB.

But, no, I wouldn't flip JVR for a chance to take Trouba or Reinhart. Dumba is trickier, but I'm just not sure how his physical style will hold up. From everything I've read, and the limited bit I've seen, Murray is basically a shoe-in to fill a top-4 role for the next 15 years; the surest thing in the draft by a considerable margin.
This is intriguing actually. I'm just assuming that the league doesnt value Jvr all that much at this point. If we could put ourselves in the position to grab Murray, i would do it in a second.

I do agree with you there. But, they are both so talented that I think they could find a way to make it work. But my more important point is that we should not be trading so many assets for offensive players when our biggest and most obvious problem is defensive depth

If that's how you see him, I can see why you wouldn't pull the trigger.

Protest, what I am saying is that they are just not making a trade to make it. They want a top liner with Giroux. Ryan and Nash would provide that for them.

Also anyone else's twitter being a PIA?

I totally agree, but the fact is that there just aren't many viable options available at this time to fill that need. Obviously if we were under the impression that weber were available, that I would put everything aside.

But people also seem to forget that a big reason for our defensive play, was the sub par involvement of our forward corps. Missing assignments, not backchecking, and not executing lavis style very well in that regards (at least one winger, usually the left in this case needs to be able to contain the puck carrier in the neutral zone) and backchecking and shot blocking from the forwards is a huge part of lavis system. Now, Ryan isn't necessarily a guy who's going to fix that, but Nash certainly is a player who can be above average defensively, which is something people seem to overlook when discussing his value.

A forward isn't the primary need, but if you can make your team better; you do it. Will Nash or Ryan make this team better? Yes. Plain and simple.

Ok I get that, but I wouldn't agree with one of those trades, especially with Nash's contract.

If you look at this team you don't have amazing options as far as 1st line wingers go. You have Jvr, who may be what Bobby Ryan is next year, and then some players who would be serviceable in that role.

Briere would make some sense, Voracek too, possibly Schenn. Those aren't as good an option as Ryan, who's game you would think would fit with Giroux, but they're free options.

To me it's about opportunity cost, and they have more ways to fill a void on a top scoring line than they do a top pairing position. If it were up to me I'd get a Dman, or stand pat and see what we have in Jvr.

This is the time for Holmgren to make his money and be creative in finding a defenseman for this season.

But, yea I would be happy with any of the three, providing that the package we send them is not much more than JVR, Bob and our first.

Parise is by far the best of the three defensively. But in my opinion Ryan is probably the best value based solely on his cap hit compared to Nash's 7.8 and the likely 7 plus that Parise will command

We have ten thousand spoons when all we need is a knife.

Ryan/Nash are spoons. We don't have a need for them.

I'm getting excited about tomorrow.

Per CSN.

Jason Garrison

Honestly I don't think that Flyers will be getting Suter or Weber so what are your feelings on signing Garrison? I understand he's not a Weber caliber player but he's a much cheaper option. He's good in his own zone, fairly big (6'2" 215lbs) and with Kimmo/G setting him up for one timers I think he could replace Pronger's shot on PP. With the Flyers offense I could see him setting a career high in points and if we're really talking about re-signing Carle for similar money isn't Garrison a better option?

Garrison has better shot but honestly Carle is better overall and more proven

Garrison has had 1 good year in NHL and is 27 yrs old ,, Way too much hype for him and he is not worth 5M+

Not sure I see how the Flyers would be better off signing Garrison over Carle ,,, Honestly I could see it being regretful to whatever team brings him in
