Ehrhoff got like ten years last offseason lol, or something stupid that was ridiculously front-loaded. Bryz got nine (which takes him to age 40 iirc), and both were a bit older than Zach is now.

This is what really bugs me about the whole situation. You can imagine what big offers could be, I never would have thought $100 range until the Wild basically told everyone else to go home, they'd be giving their hometown boy a blank check. Our chances of not only re-signing him before July 1 but after it as well took a tremendous hit. There's turning down a little more money, and then there's turning down 40-50% more.

And that doesn't make it right. Gomez couldn't possibly turn down Sather's offer, let's all agree on that and Niedermayer is a momma's boy who looks like a nerd and probably wanted mommy to feel all happy about it.

She did say that she was rooting for his brother when both faced off against one another. She probably has a favorite and wanted Scott to help out Rob win some silverware.

I do. Which makes the Wild idiots. The wrong guy to be offering a max deal.

That's a bit different, because even if everyone knows who he is talking about, he has plausible deniability about any specific player. Whereas this guy mentioned Parise specifically by name, and said they'd offer him the moon.

This is going to be the last year they allow front loaded contracts like this. Maybe he will get that..If he does in 5 years that team will be regretting that contract. The way the Cap is going to be figured is going to be restructured. You will not see the type of cap acceleration in the next 7 years as youve seen in the past 7. Players will not take a roll back of any significance again. Too many people look at this in a snapshot not in a big picture. If the Wild offer him that, and Parise takes it, he is crippling the franchise for the future. What has always made the devils successful is everyone one takes a little less so the whole has more. Like I said he has a choice, If its simply money go to Minnesota.

There are two 100 million dollar men in the NHL. One is Kovalchuk, the other is Ovechkin. Parise doesn't have the skill or the stats to back up matching either of those contracts.

Ehrnhoff got 10/40..hardly comparable. Bryz 9/51 again not the same ballpark. 12/100 is Kovyesque. Bettman made it clear that theses would be rejected if they are significantly front loaded. Richards contract is much more comparable 9/59.

If someone wants to carry a 8.3 mil cap hit into an uncertain cap number...go right ahead.

Someone needs to call up that Gary Bettman radio show today and ask him how this isn't tampering lol.

Let's say for the sake of argument that it's tampering. What are people expecting as some sort of penalty? Ron Wilson was caught talking about the Sedins, the Leafs got a fine. So if you really want to see the Wild fined that bad, whatever floats your boat I guess.

If Parise is getting 100M$ from anyone, it's cause he or his dad threatened someone at gun point, period.

He's not in a position to actively negotiate with them and I don't think got into specific offer details.

He doesn't, but the Wild just might be crazy enough and desperate enough to do that in order to get their hometown boy.

This is far worse than Wilson/Leafs. At very least, I'd expect a bigger fine.

Wilson is just a coach and merely made public comments regarding possible "interest" (which may not have even been true), well, this Parise matter is far worse than that.

Quote:
"You're hearing right now — and this sounds very contradictory — but there is a real possibility I would think that we would be going after the Sedins. Let's just speculate there"
Wilson got the Leafs fined for merely popping off at the mouth before July 1, just speculating that MAYBE the Leafs would be interested.

With the Parise instance, it's not speculation, it's FACT, and it comes directly from the owner of the Wild and includes what essentially is blank check financial terms, in addition to the fact that there is already an offer on the table prepared to be presented July 1.

So I think this could be more than a fine, and if Lou argues there were real OR potential damages to the Devils, the Wild could lose a draft pick(s).

Yeah 10-40 with like 20 million of it being paid in one calendar year lol. That's more frontloaded than the Kovy deal.

In principle yes, in actuality no. Numbers aren't high enough to make it comparable. If you simply want to argue struture you have a valid point.
