Great! We really missed Volpatti at the end of last season and will be a roster player on the fourth line. Don't kid yourselves, this guy is needed and hopefully a line of him, Lapierre and Pinizotto/Kassian will suit up and cause continuous trouble for our opposition.

I like this very much.

The #Canucks re-sign winger Aaron Volpatti to one-year deal.
Good to hear. Hope he's 100% healthy.

Agreed on both counts. Sounded like he was fully healthy by the end of the year, but he was with the Black Aces at that stage. Generate some competition for the fourth line/should protect some of our kids down in Chicago. I like the signing, curious as to the dollar amount, if it's one or two-way, etc.

Volps!

Personally, I didn't care for Volpatti when he was healthy. Saying that, he does bring some grit and a little speed to our bottom six, and, well, he's not a half bad 4th liner. I'd like to see an improvement on Lappierre's wing, but I don't have any complaints if I see Volpatti there either.

Yeah, he said he had about ten more days to go before being cleared when the Canucks were eliminated

The Province reported a while back that his agent had had "very preliminary" discussions with the Canucks. But given that at the same time Samuel Pahlsson had heard nothing from them, I'd imagine that means the Canucks want Pinizzotto back as well. They like creating competition for those bottom spots.

Last I heard, rehabbing nicely from his injury during the playoffs. Wants to stay here. Has had preliminary discussions with management. This was about a month ago.

EDIT: Beaten! You used your stealthy mod powers to place your post ahead of mine, didn't you? DIDN'T YOU!?!!!

At least our fourth line in this year's playoffs was better than last year's. In our 2011 Run, the combination of Cody Hodgson, Alex Bolduc, Tanner Glass, Victor Oreskovich, Jeff Tambellini and Manny Malhotra combined for a whopping 1 bloody assist. Wow.

Meh. I don't mind Volpatti as a 14th forward.

Volpatti would become a cult hero around here if he didn't get injured last season. He's the perfect depth forward. Uber tough and he has underrated hands. I'd like to see him challenge and make the NHL roster next season.

I do remember tambellini making a nice defensive play on a breakaway against vs Nashville, maybe on erat? I didn't mind him at a base salary over raymond.

Good 13th forward that can fight, might make a decent 4th liner one day but I don't see him being a regular this season.

I want to see the Canucks sign
Tootoo and Moen to flank Lappy on the 4th line.
That would be a lot of toughness, fighting, and hitting.

Save the top 9 for skilled guys..maybe put Schroeder in there.

Tambellini, IMO, was the best of the bunch. Yet he only got dressed in 6 games.

And yes, it was him with one of the most epic backchecks of all time against Martin Erat in the Nashville series.

i like volpatti as a bottom of the roster player. a lot of guys on the board slagged him mercilessly when he was playing at the beginning of the year but he's strong, tough, positionally pretty good and has some patience with the puck that guys like weise (and even malhotra) have no concept of.

Volpatti signed for pay cut: two way deal for 600k/105k; Previous deal as college free agent with other teams interested: 625k/200k.
good deal for the canucks, and for volpatti. lower cap hit = more likely to be on the roster.

Yeah that's pretty much the highlight of his entire season... his best game was a pre-season game against the Sharks.

Honestly our 4th line got way better after he got injured.

Tanner Glass ruined our 4th line... dude was so bad for us in the playoffs.
