Not by a whole lot IMO, and add Suter to the Wild and I would take our back end over theirs.

IMO he wants to go to one of Detroit or STL. Both great hockey teams. i know STL is place a lot of players dont end up leaving if they end the carreer here.(somthing he says he wants to do)
GM Poile says he expects Suter to hit free agency and that would mean there will be no trading for his rights. Ryan Porth of Sportsnet: Predators GM David Poile believes Ryan Suter is headed to free agency.
As were moving along, it appears that Ryan is going to go to July 1st and hes going to take a peek at free agency, Poile said. Its his right; hes earned it.

If i were him i would just wait to leave, he could get more money and the team he signs with wouldnt be giving up anything in return to get him. If he come to STL he has a choice to play with two of the better young RD in Pietrangelo or Shattenkirk along with a team who could/should win multiple cups.

In case nobody has mentioned it:

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/free_...r_free_agency/

"As we're moving along, it appears that Ryan is going to go to July 1st and he's going to take a peek at free agency," Poile said. "It's his right; he's earned it."

"We're going to be in consistent contact with him, and I'm certainly hoping, as he said to me a week ago, that he's not going to make a sudden decision and we're going to have some conversations after he has talked to these different teams," Poile said.

"We have been very loyal to Ryan. We are sticking with that," Poile said. "We have never tried to trade him or entertain any offers for him."

"I don't know why he wouldn't want to play for the Predators. I don't know why he wouldn't want to be paired with Shea Weber for the rest of his career," Poile said. "I hope he's weighing all those factors before he makes his decision."

As is, even with Lidstrom and Stuart gone, I'll still take Detroit's defense. You're putting way to much pressure on Scandella and Brodin.

For the sake of making the point, in 2010 Detroit finished 5th while missing:

Franzen for 55 games (Torn ACL)
Kronwall for 34 games (Torn MCL)
Filppula for 27 games (Broken Wrist)
Ericsson for 20 games (Bone Bruise)
Cleary for 18 games (Separated Shoulder and other various injuries)
Holmstrom for 14 games (Various injuries)
Zetterberg for 8 games (Separated Shoulder)

And all those injuries piled on at the same time. At one point in late December there was about a week long stretch where Franzen, Kronwall, Filppula, Ericsson, Cleary, Zetterberg, Rafalski (Flu), Helm (Can't remember why), and possibly Holmstrom were all out...

We finished 2nd overall in man games lost, between Edmonton and Carolina, who were the worst teams in their respective conferences.

I'm traveling and posting with my phone, so if someone could post the Wild's final man games missed for 2011-12 and the break-down by player I would appreciate it. Otherwise I'll do it tomorrow.

But as this article references, the Wild had 264 man games missed on March 1st. And I read somewhere that their final # of man games missed was the most by a team since the early 90's.

According to this, (March 17th) Minnesota was at 306 and (at the time) 8th in the league in man games lost.

I haven't been able to find one from the season's end.

I know that we had over 400 by the end of the year. I'll do some research and post back here in a couple hours with the complete list.

I forgot to include the link to the article from March 17th that had the Wild at 306 (8th in the league), so here it is:

So apparently the Avs are actually going to open up the checkbook in a pitch for Suter or Parise. I'm thinking it comes down to Minny, STL, if they're owners let them poney up the big bucks, or Colorado.

If you don't think Detroit is a MAJOR player in the Suter sweepstakes, then you are very, very wrong.

They don't have the cap space.

I think some people are overlooking the Blues a little bit as players in these sweepstakes. I think they have a legit shot at getting Suter. They fit the bill of everything Suter wants, they are a big contender in the West, and they have a new ownership group with some money to spend. A lot of people think their forwards might be set, so they will be focusing their attention on finding that partner for Pietrangelo...obviously Suter or Garrison would be a remarkable fit.

I'm sure their in it, I just don't think they'll actually come away with him. Semin I see wearing the Red Wings logo on his sweeter, but going by my gut I just don't think Suter ends up there to.

The only way i see Suter signing in Minnesota is if the Wild make a big splash whether that's in signing Parise or making a big trade to prove we are legit contenders next year and of course beyond with our prospects ready to make an impact.
