Three team divisional swap....

Charlotte to the East
Syracuse to the North
Grand Rapids to the Midwest

If there's any this should be it. The AHL is so messed up in terms of geography. You have about 15 teams in New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New England. You have St. John's on an island. Norfolk and Charlotte are kind of on their own islands. Not really within reasonable driving distance to any other teams. You have a cluster of three in Texas, a team in OKC, a group in the upper Midwest and a team all the way in British Columbia. The closest team to Abbotsford is Rockford, which is almost 2,060 miles away.

I'm not sure how Charlotte feels but if I was them I would want to stay in the Midwest Division. They still got to play Norfolk 8 times and the teams in their division are all a few hours on the bus apart or less.

Eh, it's no skin off of my back regardless, as this upcoming season I'll probably only see Wolves games and maybe Rivermen and IceHogs games live, so it's not like I'd suddenly up and drive to a game in Grand Rapids to watch a game if they were suddenly in the Midwest Division. Just seems like Grand Rapids in the Midwest and Charlotte in the East makes the most sense geographically, all things considered.

i dont think it really matters since the schedule is so imbalanced, no matter what the alignments are, they still play their local rivals more often than any other team

You need to qualify that - the teams out EAST play their local rivals more often than any other team.

Milwaukee played GR 4 times last season. Usually, it has been 6 times a year. Having them in the division instead of Charlotte would be good, except that Milwaukee did well against the Checkers in 8 games last season.

Why bother??? I don't see anything changing. In minor league sports ideals and logic mean nothing.

The team can mainly travel to Chicago and bus around, then when teams come to town, they are usually here a day or 2, and get to party in Charlotte.

What sucks is we will have a month or 2 of a few games, then a couple months of 4 - 5 home games a week. So, its not a steady home schedule. The only advantage for us is the international airport that is a major hub for UA.

It make since to be in the midwest, and doesn't.
