No Weber or Suter in front of him (nor anybody even remotely close). I'd say there's a good chance of that happening.

Not on the trade thread. Apparently it won't matter because he's such a technically sound goalie.

Minor Tweak

TB made a deal for Lindback and team maybe out of the Nash sweepstakes. So what changes can the Canucks do? Looks like another first round exit again for 2013.

These are the only changes I can see and no way this team looks strong enough to compete for a Stanley Cup. Eventually the team may go to rebuild without ever winning a cup in the Sedin era.

Here are the few changes I can see being done:

Fla - R. Luongo, M. Maholtra, J. Schroeder, M. Raymond, Y. Suave, B. Sweatt
Van - J. Theodore, M. Goc, N. Bjugstad, D. Shore, A. Petrovic, Q. Howden, 1st Round (23)

Stl - K. Ballard
Van - C. Stewart

FA--
J. Schultz
J. Garrison
P. Parenteau
J. Stoll

Re-sign
S. Salo
E. Lack
D. Weiss
A. Rome

Lineup:
D. Sedin, H. Sedin, A. Burrows
D. Booth, R. Kesler, P. Parenteau
C. Higgins, J. Stoll, C. Stewart
M. Lapierre, M. Goc, J. Hansen

Bench/Minors: Z. Kassian, N. Bjugstad, D. Shore, Q. Howden, A. Rodin, A. Friesen, A. Volpatti, D. Weiss, V. Oreskevich, A. Ebbett, M. Duco, N. Jansen

D1: D. Hamhuis, K. Beiksa
D2: A. Edler, J. Garrison
D3: J. Schultz, C. Tanev

Bench/Minors:
S. Salo, A. Rome, A. Alberts, K. Connaughton, M. Gragnani, A. Petrovic

G1: C. Schneider
G2: J. Theodore

Minors: E. Lack

for schneider absolutely, but the lifetime contract with luongo is a pretty significant distinction

agreed that taking at least a flyer on brule would be a good low-risk, high-reward move, and much better than wasting time with worthless veterans like sturm or nolan this training camp

Well, how much better would Brule really be? Competition for Higgins? Maybe? Imho, we need another bonafide star, not another trip to the bargain bin.

I'd have mixed feelings about landing Evander Kane. If the rumours about him are true, does that maybe make us worse in the room? Or better?

Patrick Kane is the worst sort of person, but he won a cup, soooo...

What about Steve Ott? There were a bunch of rumors at the trade deadline, but we didn't pay the (presumably) high price. I like that he's 29 and plays both wing and centre.

How about this for a "wackadoo" (new HF Trademark?) proposal?

To Edmonton:
Alexander Edler
26th Overall
2nd Rounder in 2013

To Vancouver:
1st Overall (Nail Yakupov)

Too much? Too little?

I want yakupov to be a canuck so bad I'd do it, but I can't think rationally when it comes to yakupov so I can't speak to whether or not this is fair value.

Yakupov is NHL ready and is going to be a star. Division trading or not, I think he could be a tremendous asset to the team. Apparently, Montreal asked Edmonton about the first overall and their asking price began with Subban.

If thats the trade that goes down, you'll be hearing headlines about me and the lion's gate bridge.

If i'm trading Edler+, its not for 1st overall in this draft.

Hard to say. It certainly makes us a worse team for the next year and possibly the year after even. We also have no one to replace Edler.

I have a feeling that we are all waiting for the draft on Friday and nothing will go down.

We will wait with eager anticipation for some blockbuster trade/trades and the only thing we'll get is the Canucks drafting at #26.

Hope I'm wrong.

I'd say the smart money is actually on you being right. I would not be shocked at all if we stood pat at the draft and made our pick at 26.

Definitely go after Parenteau. Ideal second wave RW.

Imagine the Oilers trading their first overall pick for Alex Edler only to watch him walk for nothing 374 days later..

I'm not trying to be a naysayer but I'm so skeptical of PA Parenteau. I've watched a lot of Islander games because I'm a big Tavares fan and I honestly think Parenteau will suck when he gets a fat contract else where. He's been getting first line minutes and carried by arguably the most underrated player in the game right now. Let's not forget Parenteau was an AHL journeyman before hooking up with Tavares. Parenteau really does come across to me like a low rent Alex Burrows and I don't think that's necessarily what this team is looking for. Parenteau would fall to our third or fourth line by mid-season and struggle to get 15 goals here.

Like-wise. Tavares is insanely good. Parenteau won't be playing with anyone his calibre anywhere else.

So in my GM league I acquired the 4 th overall pick (Fillip Forsbger) Ryan Strome and Frans Nielsen for Booth, Schneider and Schroeder. Really wish that would happen in real life

Now all you have to do is trade Perry for Landeskog and you'll be set.
