I thought we were done with him... Hope he at least improved when he was overseas.

Essentially means the 4th line will be Martin-Reasoner-Joensuu

Shame, I wanted Tootoo or Prust for that line.

Push Martin to 3rd? He should have been playing more minutes. Hell, I'd try him next to Tavares for a spell, just to see what he can do.

I'm surprised, but if he plays on the 4th line then I guess he can be effective. Maybe this means Ullstrom is going to stay in Bridgeport for another year?

This is fine. More competition in camp. He either makes the team or goes back to Sweden for another year. I don't think this guarantees him a spot at all.

Pushing Martin to the 3rd line would be great.

Tell me who I'm missing (assuming Nino starts the year in Bridgeport).

The contract has a Europe out clause so if he doesn't make the team out of camp he's going back to Sweden not a guarantee at all.

Was not expecting this at all. Some others in the org must have been ticked when he potted 2 goals to knock USA out of the WCs last month.

I wasn't a Joensuu fan when he was here. Don't mind giving him a second look though.

I don't have any problem with this. He actually used his size well when he was here just didn't create much offense. Kind of like Nino this past year but I expect a handful of goals from Joensuu. I see this a solid upgrade in the bottom 6 compared to last year. Plus it will help the chances of Nino staying in Bridgeport.

WOW....IMO this is not a good move.....NO offense to JJ but a 1 way deal means he basically will be on the team or waived.....

So does anyone Think Seth Jones will be NHL ready???

What's there to not like about this? It's just another body to have in training camp. If he doesn't earn a spot on the team, he will be out of here before we learn how to properly spell his name

He was pretty aggressive in the SEL. He has gotten a bit more nasty.

Not a bad gamble to take for the bottom 6. It can not hurt to have more competition or to have a player with height on the team. Hopefully JJ learned to use his size a bit more the past season. If he sucks just let him use the out clause and let him go back to Europe.

I like this move. He's fresh blood and from all accounts he grew as a player in Sweden.

At the very least we add actual talent to the 4th line.

I don't get the soft mark either, he was really aggressive during the WC's and sometimes went a bit overboard with the hits.

That is good to know.

Seems to me like a low risk, fair reward kind of deal. If he makes it out of camp and can play nastier than in previous stints, who knows? He may turn the corner. After all, he's only what - 25 years old? I could see him popping 10 or 20 goals over the span of a season more than I'd expect Pandolfo to do so.

That, and if he makes the team, his name will drive Butch nuts.

Its a 1 way deal right? He's not an NHL player in my opinion. I would rather try and bring in an energy guy like Prust/ Moen or even play Haley on the 4th line before bringing this guy back. This Team needs to add some toughness somewhere. I think the team is taking a step backwards with this signing.

The 1 way deal only means that he gets paid the same salary whether he is in Bridgeport or on the big club. If he does not make the team out of camp, he will end up going back to Sweden though, which means he would have no cap hit with us. This doesn't ensure that he's on the team at all. I'd rather have those guys too and hopefully we will sign one of them, but this has no bearing on whether we sign one of those guys.
