I'm fine with Struve/Miocic as a main on a Fuel/FX card as long as it's not filled with a bunch of fights I don't care about to go along with it. As eluded to in the other thread, Hardy will be on the card all but guaranteed.

That's a good fight in my books also, leaning Struve at the moment.

I do wish they would have went with original Struve/Hunt matchup from the HW card. I'd like to see hunt & Nelson now..

Hunt/Nelson would be a great fight to add to that card. Then the winners could fight for the #1 contender spot.

Big Nog out of Calgary now, replaced by Shawn Jordan vs Kongo.

Feel bad for the fans in Calgary, as the card is now approaching Vancouver territory in terms of dreadfulness.

Man alive, I thought the last Montreal card blew, this one is the sasha grey of blowing.

Is Shawn Jordan really the best replacement they could find? Really? Is Hunt hurt?

The Faber fight was a solid replacement all things considered. The rest not so much....

Out:
Aldo Koch Shogun Thiago Nog Akiyama Alves Bisping

In:
Faber Barrao Jordan Siyar Clemments Lombard

That's a mike milbury type swap! Is this the UFC again taking advantage of the rabid Canadian mma fans? Maybe they can save the card with Struve/McKorkle II.

Having this stinker following Silva/Franklin II tells me they are going to need to grow the roster with more fighters, stop cutting guys on 2 fight losing streaks or reduce the # of events.

Ron Burgandy would call this bush league.

The last Montreal card ended up being on of the best events that year. Not a lot of name power, but I remember there being a lot of good fights.

No, but Hunt just KO'ed Kongo.

The issue is they clearly have too many events and once injuries start piling up, they can't deal with it. The FOX/FX cards are generally already stretched to thin as it is as well.

They should be giving fans a 24hr window to refund their tickets.

What they are doing is nothing more than a bait and switch.

Well, I think most of the time it's genuine bad luck, but I think there were was some maniuplation happening during the Brock Lesnar Vancouver event.

I don't know why people buy tickets so far in advance. In the 8 hours before the event you're likely going to get tickets at anywhere from face value +10% to absolutely free via Twitter. Well worth the risk of taking your chances.

See, with the UFC, I'd be the total opposite. If they were coming back to San Jose or SF (not Oakland. **** Oakland) and there was a rumored main event I liked, I'd buy tickets day one. You gotta remember for a place like Calgary, this is the first time ever for the UFC to be there, or in Alberta for that matter I'm pretty sure (Wasn't it WEC who did an event in Edmonton?). When you get something like the UFC that doesn't come to town very often, people like to book it in advance. It's a pretty big part of the UFC's business model. Obviously everything in Vegas will do well but if you only go to other places every 6 months, a year, two years, 3 years, etc, people are going to want to go the next time you come because who knows when they'll be back. And especially a place like Calgary. I don't really foresee Calgary getting a lot of visits from Dana and co. so most people wanna guarantee they can go when they have the chance.

But I am with you on hockey tix. I've actually won a pair to a Kings game via twitter and I live 6 hrs away from LA. Game was the next day at noon no less. Booked a hotel and drove literally right after I won to go.

Absolutely.

I almost purchased tickets for this but our family in Alberta is coming home in July so that fell through. Thank god, tickets/flights/meals to see that card would have had me heading to the buffalo jump for a plunge.

My bad, I just threw a name out who we haven't saw, didn't really put much thought into it.

The point still remains though, I think either Nelson or Struve would have stepped in for the right$$$. They both had a quick fight recently & came out virtually unscathed (I think).

Even a Kongo/Del'Rosario fight would have been awesome. Jordan is a good wrestler but he got tagged a lot in his last fight, against a guy who had rudimentary striking in comparison to Cheick. I really have little interest in that fight, especially as a
co-headliner in a debuting city.

I agree on waiting, especially with what we have seen on some of these cards. The Vancouver one you are referring to and this one being probably the two worst examples.

Offering a refund window would be the classy thing to do. As others have stated, some of these people are coming from a ways away to see this, it would be a shame to have to see what amounts to an undercard when you were expecting Shogun/Aldo/Big Nog. That's a bunch of crap man.

I would assume most people would still keep their tickets and go anyway, and really, I would bet a large percentage of the tickets were bought up buy ticket agencies and scalpers, so in a way, this is a good thing.

Yeah last time the UFC was in Vancouver I just waited for the card to fall apart and got the tickets for 1/2 of face value. Although that card was bad to begin with and it didn't take much for that one to fall off.

For whatever reason it seems like the Vegas shows fall apart less. I am likely going to the September one and I'm not worried about buying tickets in advance.

That's a much better fight but I don't see Okami having problems with Palhares.

Nice, I wanted them to match those two up next. That should be a good scrap, Hardy should be able to catch him at some point.

Hopefully Okami gets back in the win column, feeling te same as DFA, Okami should be able to stuff the TD & win most the exchanges. It will probably play out similar to Hendo/Palhares.

Per Ariel Helwani (via a YT video he did), Aldo expected to be back in action in October. Koch fight is still on when he's back. I hope he means the fight is in October, not Aldo can start training again then.
