I remember HNIC mentioned something during the season about Kane and Wpg and the city or organization. I think there are or was issues. I don't remember what HNIC said but something to the effect he wasn't comfortable in Wpg or being the star there.

Sounds like he wants to go south, if that's true.

Hello, Dallas?

Hello, Dallas?
He'll go to the highest bidder. If Chevy deals him, it'll be on his terms. The Jets hold all the cards when dealing away their star player.

I would do that from Jets POV. Plekanec has some years still in contract, so he wouldn't leave like in next year. Jets could try to trade with those picks and move them to 1st round. Gallagher, don't know anything about him. Could Kristo be in play?

Those 2nd's would need to switch to the 3rd overall for this deal to even be considered.

Gallagher almost made the team out of training camp last year, destroyed the WHL and was an assistant captain and top line forward for Canada's Junior team. He's undersized is all, but is very comparable to Gionta in skill set and heart.
If Chev asked for Kristo instead I would change in a heartbeat.

Also Plekanec has 4 years left at 5 per. He's on a splendid contract and it would be hard to let him go but in order to obtain talent you have to send talent the other way. The 3rd overall pick (centerman) would make it doable.

Kane doesn't get traded to Montreal without the #3 pick being somehow included. Even then, not sure Montreal has the necessary assets to give the JETS what they need.

The Canadiens have some intriguing pieces, but most are pieces that are either too young and won't make an impact with the JETS immediately or pieces that the Canadiens will be unwilling to include.

That said, Kane is exactly what the Canadiens need.

I think Plekanec+3rd ov. is overpayment from Habs then...

The team could not afford to trade Plekanec and give up the 3rd overall unless they're getting a centreman back.

If Winnipeg demanded the 3rd, it just wouldn't work out

Then the Jets would look elsewhere. They'll get an overpayment if they trade Kane. There will definitely be a bidding war.

I think they would move the 3rd, keep Plekanec.

That's a tricky proposition. They need a 1C. But, by most accounts, if Galchenyuk goes #2, Montreal favors Forsberg over Grigorenko at 3.

If you're going to end up acquiring a wing for the #3 pick, Kane's a better choice...but a considerable margin.

Well then, Gallagher sounds good.

I know that Kane is a great player, excellent player and so on. I remember when he was drafted I jumped and cheered. Don't know how many of you guys (WPG-fans) were ATL-fans and watched him day in day out. You don't win games with one person, you win games as a team. IF Winnipeg would get player like Plekanec, who is proven star player with great vision and hands and then also + there, it would be a good deal.

I feel for you Winnipeg guys, but this was common in Atlanta.

*IF* this is true how can you blame the guy? The fans treated him like garbage all year with the stupid rumors.

Value is probably close, but that would put Winnipeg in a pretty tricky spot--the BPA at both 8 and 9 could well be defenseman.

I don't see how the Jets can move Kane without getting a blue-chip forward back.

I see a pattern here. Now you want a first line center and 3rd overall. Kane was 4th overall himself.

He's a professional athlete. If he can't handle rumors then he should find a new career. Even then rumors happen in all facets of life.

i don't get posts like this.. we don't know there would be overpayment. maybe GMs lessen his value because of something only they know? who knows... but a 3rd overall, plekanec, 2 second round picks + for kane is ALOT

I sincerely hope that Staal+Bortuzzo/Strait for Kane is at least offered by Shero.

I don't usually speak in absolutes, but this is one of those times. I fully expect Chevy to get Winnipeg the best deal he can.

I don't really even want Plekanec. I also mentioned dropping both 2nd's for the 3rd overall. Personally I'd rather the Jets dealt with another team other than Montreal

Wilson could be an intriguing piece for them... I'm not sure how the rest of the package would look.

I'd think Nashville would also need to get some idea what went on off-ice with Kane--if the kid is hell-bent on big city stardom, then it might not be worth it to move the assets.

Doesn't that sort of go without saying?

The poster you addressed was responding to your guarantee that the Jets would get an "overpayment" for Kane.

What if the best package isn't an overpayment--but is simply adequate? and fair
