Only when you watch the Finals do you really want it

Listening to that crowd in NJ really gets me down about not making it to at least the Stanley Finals.

Also the more i think about it i see this as a huge opportunity missed. I say this because the way i look at it is are the Rangers better than us? Hell no. Are the Devils better than us? Maybe/maybe not and i think we match up well with their current roster.

My feelings are if we'd won against the Rangers then i couldn't see the Devils taking us in 7.

When you look at the West champs, yes i know the Kings took out the best but you'd have to say so would have the Caps if they'd knocked off the Bruins, Rangers and Devils so it would be anyone's game.

I know it's alot of IF's but we were a puck bounce or two from this being the reality. Not sure if we get a chance this good in the future but i hope i'm wrong because this team changed my view on them in the post season with regards to mental strength.

But the only way to win in the play0ffs is to play 6 backcheckers and neuter your offensive players!!24!2

I don't put much stock into the seeding of playoff teams, and this year is a great example of why. It's all about who's hot and who's healthy, and this year it's the Kings and Devils. It helps that both are very deep teams, which is something I can't say about the current Caps.

Bingo.

Which is why I always get a chuckle out of the garbage like, "BB's Capz were upset by a lower seed!" and "Hunter's Caps knocked off the strong #2 Seed Bz! Hunter rocks!"

The Caps weren't beating either of these teams even if they did get past New York. I just can't see it.

I could have believed beating NJ, but the way the Kings are playing no chance in beating them.

Goliath has fallen before.

We were Goliath not too long ago. And Montreal dissected us with a blunt little tool called defense.

Even in our shell, we dictated that every game was close, and low scoring, a virtual coin flip to decide the games.

I saw a 2-1 game just last night. Had NJ not foolishly double teamed Williams on the board in center, maybe all would see LA can be beaten.

I woulda settled for getting to ECF. that's what kills me.

The 6.6 seconds, that was a dagger.

And then in game 7, when hammer scored AND we were awarded PP soon after, i really thought we were storming our way back and were headed to OT at least.

I'd rather them play more like 09-10 and win the Cup once in 5 years, then play like last year and win it 5 straight.

Another deflater, giving up that early goal in game 7. That PP we saw in the 3rd period may have been the ugliest PP i have ever seen. We would have given up a shorty if the Rags could have stopped laughing. Forced to bring the O, trapping for 4 months showed our offensive rust. You can't counter on a PP, so we stood there like idiots.

When I watch the finals then it really sets in, what a long ass season hockey is. Development camp is only a month away.

No wonder players get burned out, on coaches and on busting their arses every game during the regular season.

Yea, I really feel like we beat ourselves in the Rangers series. It's sad to look back on now in hindsight. I think a series with New Jersey could've gone either way and we would've had a decent chance to make the finals.

Either way I would've been satisfied with making the ECF, as it would've been the farthest we've gotten in some time. But when you look back on game 5; triple OT and game 6; 6.6 seconds it really stings. Then add the fact that every game was decided by a goal so we were that close every time but it seemed like Hunter was always playing to keep it close. It sure does suck.

But a least we know now that we just need to make the playoffs, no matter the seed. Because after that, as the cliche goes, anything can happen.

Yeah who could have foreseen those coin flips ending up with 4 tails before 4 heads...?

Yea what a crazy occurrence huh? That like never happens...

LOL. If we actually took it to them some games it wouldn't have been up to chance and coin-flip games.

Holtby was playing great, why not take a few risks/chances Hunter??
