The Buffalo media suck.

That's pretty much it.

If you're looking for draft coverage, you're best off following our own Hobey Baker (@sabresprospects)

If you're looking for draft experts the Buffalo media is near the complete opposite of what you want.

As has been mentioned @sabresprospects is great to follow, as is Bob Mackenzie (sp?) and also Darren Dreger.

Just listen to / watch / follow the TSN guys. That's where most of the Buffalo sports folks get their information anyways.

As far as local media goes, Vogl is probably the best the Buffalo News has, and Bill Hoppe (Niagara Gazette) is pretty good as well.

If you want to follow people just for some general Sabres talk, your much better off following local bloggers.

I'd say forget Buffalo reporters when it comes to prospects, as all they'll be doing is paraphrasing what they've recently read in draft guides/binders in prep for the draft. None to my knowledge actually watch or scout the amateur ranks.

I'd suggest following some regional scouts/columnists for their perspective on prospects and for any reports they may have written; and with a quick copy-and-paste, a few of these names are:
  • Corey Pronman of Hockey Prospectus
  • David Burstyn of McKeens
  • Dan Stewart of Future Considerations
  • Dominic Tiano of OHL Writers
  • Sean LaFortune of Future Considerations & The Scout.ca
  • Scott Campbell of The Scouting Report
  • Nathan Fournier of The World of Junior Hockey
  • Grant Sonier of ESPN
  • Patrick King of Sportsnet
  • Ryan Kennedy of The Hockey News
  • Brock Otten of OHL Prospects

The draft is tomorrow and these clowns on WGR are talking about the schedule. What the f+++ are they smoking. Sometimes I really hate how little sabres coverage there is. Is WGR the only station. They have 2 months to talk about it.

They wouldnt know what to say. Why would anybody want to know anything about players that will be called up/traded/ or traded for in the future. Its not like The Sabres Organization is trying to make Buffalo look like a Hockey market or anything.

The sad part is when we have a team that is trying to become a serious organization and trying to be one of the best in their particular sport, we still have a hack of a radio station that employs two morons who are the voice you hear on the way home. I miss the days that there were two.

GR, the same guys who used to hang up on people when they'd call in to a hockey talk segment to talk prospects? Those guys? Yeah...

I could not believe that **** when I was perusing the audio vault. I also thought WGR would ask Boughner about any prospects Windsor has in the upcoming draft, y'know since he was a guest on Hockey Hotline this week, but I was wrong. Apparently that was too obvious, but Kassian talk was still relevant.
