hes easily a top 4, played on the shutdown line and made phaneuf look good when he was flagging near the end. Not a guy that'll put up 40+ points but hes quiet and efficient. Plus his cap hit is 1 mil, playing top2 minutes.
Firstly, I wouldn't want Schenn, Kulemin, Gunnarson or Kadri. None of those players address any of our needs.
Secondly, why do you think we would want to turn Toronto into a playoff team by just giving the Leafs Luongo for free?
Its not that you would want to turn Toronto into a playoff team, but we would be taking his contract off your hands (lets say for picks/prospects) that you could spend elsewhere to improve your team, while your goaltending would still be elite

I have a sad feeling we're going to jettison him for scraps, and he'll go on to play to his potential elsewhere and make us look like idiots.

Schneider is due a big raise...the cap savings will be minimal. Maybe we could sign another Andrew Alberts type player...doesn't make us better at all.

How is Gunnarson easily top 4? Who does he displace? Edler and Hamhuis are both very much better than him. We simply have no room for him.
Luongo + Grenier(Van prospect that's 6'5) for Schenn+Kulimen+2013 1st conditional on playoffs.
Does not address Vancouver's needs. Pointless to destroy our opportunity to trade away one of our two elite goalies for scraps without addressing our team needs.

I have no problem if we keep Luongo and trade Schneider for something that addresses our needs. On the flip side, the Leafs should be worried about being stuck with no goalie going into the season yet again.
What makes him a worthwhile upgrade on Keith Ballard that we should trade a top 5 NHL goalie for him?
who the hell is your forth defensemen anyways? all i hear is how salo, ballard and gragnani are terrible. i'm pretty sure gunnars is better than salo and grangs as well.
