I read about three pages and it was just people arguing. Are there any legit rumors about Luongo going anywhere?
No.
Amazing, isn't it? Rolling close to 11,000 posts about...not bloody much really. Pray nobody ever inadvertently tries to print the thread out, we'll all have to buy carbon credits to offset the deforestation needed for the paper.

Basically anytime someone proposes something half decent, an extreme Canucks/Leafs fan trashes it by saying "ZoMg Lulongo haz 99 years on his contract Komisarek or GTFO" or "Luongo for 5th, Gardiner, and your 1st round pick in 2032 or well never ever trade Luongo and have 2 goalies forever".
Basically positive discussion is instantly derailed it seems.

I don't know why when people come on this particular section of the forum they become ridiculous.
The poll in the Leaf's forum looked almost reasonable... about 65% saying Moderate to High Value needed for Luongo. Which is about right, it's probably somewhere in between there.

It would be nice if we could kinda come up with like 6 proposals from both sides that didn't involve "5th, Gardiner or Komisarek" and basically vote on the best proposal for both sides.
Wasn't there a proposal that most Leaf and Nuck fans agreed on at the end of the previous thread?? I thought it was similar to Schenn+Colbourne+2013 2nd??

Still don't want it. I'm not saying the value is bad, but I just don't see how those pieces help us where we are right now.

When you put two different groups of people in one, big open space, the result is usually some form of confrontation.
Um, what? Sounds to me like the exact opposite. "Gillis still looking for a hockey trade".
Yeah, that is what is pretty obvious. "Rather than just dump salary", meaning Luongo's. Hence, a soft deal.
That said, I have no doubt there are a few offers. It's just a matter of what rival GMs are willing to part with. I stlll think Lu is a great goalie who may actually take it to another level with a change of scenery, no matter where that is.
I still think someone will pay somewhat of a premium, but the question is if that team is one Lu is willing to go to. I still think he is a great goalie, but this is an extremely unique situation and this likely won't be a value-for-value hockey trade. Not saying Lu can be had for a song, but I don't think it is far off.
My guess is it will be somewhere in the middle of all these proposals. A second rounder and a decent prospect and perhaps a "salary dump".

"If there are three humans, there will be six opinions." Mass Effect 2 quote that amply fits this thread.
Are any other Canuck fans on the fence about trading Luongo? I just have a feeling it may come back to bite us in the ass haha.
It could but it's a tricky situation no matter what you do.
It's virtually impossible to think that the situation will be resolved in a manner where Luongo is content to stay with the Canucks and give up the starter spot to Schneider. The Canucks wouldnt be happy with him sitting on the bench either, $5.3 is a big cap hit for a backup goalie.
So your other option is to trade Schneider and he might have more value in trade but it's still not a lot. Look what other goalies have gone for in trade and how many decent goalie prospects are available and it's pretty easy to see you wont be getting a top 6 forward or a top 4 d-man in exchange. You might get a draft pick who could fill that position in 3-4 years and/or a prospect who is a couple years away.
It's very doubtful that either option fills holes in your roster now. The choice comes down to who you think gives the team the better chance at a cup. If Schneider has already supplanted Luongo then there is no choice Roberto has to go. If Schneider isnt ready yet but you think that he will be a better option in the near future then it's a Luongo trade. The only way you hold on to Roberto is if you have doubts about Schneider.
