I think a fair trade for Ryan would be:

Dubinsky, Stepan, and a 1st.

That should be where it stops.

I feel very highly of him.

But Bobby Ryan is 24. An annual 30+ goal scorer. Physical. And VERY good contract.

For this player, if he were to be traded, that's fine.

Not for Nash, who is 3-4 years older, and whose cap hit is nearly 3 million more annually.

And not in a lateral move or a step back.

A legitimate universally agreed upon upgrade. Ryan is.

I wouldn't trade any of Kreider, Stepan, Staal, McDonagh, Girardi, Callahan, Richards, Lundqvist.

Don't like giving up Erixon or Miller, to be quite honest. They're cheap talent.

MDZ/1st for Ryan. The value of a top 4 NHL defenseman is underrated. Neal precedent.

i don't think any deal for ryan that we're willing to take part in would be accepted.

That's a lot. If that were the offer, we better be getting Palmieri back with Ryan.

That would also be a fair trade, given we have a suitable replacement for MDZ... Schultz...

They're in the position of power here. We're not. They don't have to trade him if they don't want.

Although, trading Step might mean that Schultz would be less inclined to come. This all seems very fickle.

You guys do realize that if PHI lands Nash it will only drive up the price for the rangers to pry away Ryan from ANA. Not only that I think Nash is a better player than Ryan and I don't even want Nash. The cost for ryan could hurt just as much or more than it would for nash because anaheim would have all the leverage.

Ducks defense is pretty well set. They need forwards. They have about 1 1/3 lines. The rest of their forwards are scrubs. Dubi/Anisimov/Prospect and a pick should do it.

Ranger fans want to trade nobody, so its pretty pointless to be discussing trades for Nash and Ryan and the likes.

Anaheim doesn't want Dubinsky. They want cheaper players than him. They'd rather have Thomas/Yogan than Dubinsky because of the cost and what he brings. Stepan will most likely have to be moved unless we give up a bigger prospect, then we can move Anisimov instead of him.

Stepan
Yogan/Thomas
draft pick

or

Anisimov
Fast/Miller/McIlrath/Erixon
draft pick(s)

Something along that will be what it takes.

Just in case you didn't know, on HF, they have guidelines on what is a prospect.

If we give up Dubi and Anisimov, we just got rid of two of our top Centers.

Agreed. I think this is the most likely scenario to happen with ANA, they are not rebuilding and likely do not want the pieces that we are willing to offer.

When did we lose Richards?

...and Stepan?

...and when did Dubinsky start playing center again?

We MIGHT be able to get Ryan if we do something around Hagelin with Dubinsky and a TOP prospect. That way we keep Stepan. I don't see that happening though. Stepan IMO would have to go if we got Ryan.

If we trade Stepan, we have a big hole at second line center. I sure as hell don't want Anisimov centering our second line.

Yeah Ryan should be Sather's top target, but that is too much. If your trading Staal, him and Miller should be more than enough. They get their future 2nd line center and an allstar defensemen.

Rangers are not trading Stepan.

Who the hell is going to play with Kreider and Ryan?... Anisimov and Boyle? Good luck with that noise.

Stepan is NOT getting traded. It makes zero sense.

You don't go out and acquire this highly regarded winger and bring up a highly regarded rookie winger, and then trade away the ONLY viable center option for them to play with...

Common sense.

And i don't care what columnist or blogger asked the question.

The Rangers have not stated or indicated anything to suggest they are willing to move Stepan. In fact, everything THEY said and say suggests they're moving forward with him.

And they're not destroying their top four defense.

To get Ryan they'd move Dubinsky, top prospect(s) and top draft pick(s).

Same as the Nash offer.

They're not breaking up the core.

He can play Center.

We'd be left with Richards, Stepan, and Boyle. You want Boyle to be our 3rd line Center?
