I like Gears of War, but I agree on the CoD front. I stopped playing those games once they stopped being WW2 based. I dunno why, but i find modern military games to be kind of stupid. Plus, I dont play multiplayer because I've gotten too old to deal with all the screaming children, I'd rather stick needles in my eyeballs.

I generally only play games these days with great stories (Mass Effect) or extremely good open world games (Saints Row 3).

Never been a big fan of Gears... too much "wash, rinse, repeat" gameplay for me. It's a whole lot of run -> cover -> shoot -> run -> cover -> shoot -> repeat

I wouldn't say I'm a big fan, but I do play them. The stories decent, and I like just about anything sci-fi hehe. Certainly nowhere near the top of my all time favorites list or anything. I do like that they were designed with co-op in mind.

My favorite games of all time (in no particular order...):

Mass Effect (series)
Portal (series)
Half Life (series)
SimCity 3000
Dungeon Keeper (they need to remake this)
Uncharted (series)
Super Mario Kart (1)
EQ
WoW (I'll admit it, I played it for years...)
KOTOR

I'm sure I'm forgetting some...

Never been big into multiplayer (outside of MMO's of course) but I was absurdly good at Day of Defeat while it was beta (like, unbeatably good for some reason) and Battlefield 2 (specifically with a helicopter).

My niece and nephew are looking for some computer help near SF/Pacifica area, since a few of you are near there any recommendations for a place that won't rob them blind?

EDIT:

If any of you are comp savvy enough and want to help them out, I'd be happy to compensate with Giants tix or SJ tix in exchange. They've emailed me about it for quite sometime already and I feel bad I can't really help them as I've been extremely busy.

Not that I am much help in Reno, but might help if you tell people what kind of help they are looking for. PC Problems? Network help? etc.

From what they've told me, their computer sometimes doesn't even post and they continuously get BSODs with "Memory Management" and "Bad Pool Header" or something like that.

EDIT:

From the email: "All lights are on, hard drives/fans working, but no POST occasionally" "...system file check comes out clean..." "chkdsk clean" "memtest 86 clean after 4 passes" "no beep code"

I figured their MOBO is probably dying, or RAM is bad. Work Laptop did this a bit ago too, ended up just getting a new one from them, which suggests to me that it was probably cheaper that way.

Worst comes to worse I'll just tell them to drive it to my office and I'll have IT guys here look at it.

Not sure why they come to me, I'm terrible with this stuff.

It's not. I think they did that because he's (in-universe) the next Batman and not a Robin. And it was probably because it would've caused a lot of problems for squealing fanboys if his character's name ended up as Richard Grayson/Jason Todd/Tim Drake. I mean, you kinda know from early on that he's going to end up inheriting the Batman mantle, but it would've probably ruined what little suprise there might have been if he were named for one of the Robins. It still comes off as quite lazy/heavy-handed though.

You know what's really weird about food poisoning? How everytime you throw up, the after taste tastes like orange.

Why orange?

If it won't post you can pretty much rule out hard drive as a culprit. I agree, RAM (regardless of memtest), motherboard, CPU, in that order. My gut says motherboard on this one, and if that is the case I would recommend a new power supply. The majority of bad motherboards i've seen have been caused by a bad, or simply crappy, power supply sending unclean power.
