The full sea louse scene - awesome and disgusting

The Soviet commander tried to stop the launch from the freighter - Wow, way to make them the bad guys in the US version...
Could've been worse. The story goes that originally the studio that bought the english dub rights to the film wanted to turn it into a spoof comedy, like Woody Allen's "What's up, Tiger Lilly?". Raymond Burr would have none of it as he took the film and its tone/message seriously. He told them he'd walk if they didn't fix it. So they did.

In related news, I only a few years ago found out that Burr was born not far from where I live. So that's kind of cool.

Also if I ever go to Japan, I'm going to Toho studios. Because this is outside their front gate:

That is further evidence/reminder that I really should take my next vacation to Japan. I wonder if they give tours...

I think I read somewhere that they don't. The only evidence I found of a tour was one that longtime Godzilla actor Akira Takarada arranged for a group of fans who were part of a convention/trip to Japan. You can read about that here:

http://sidelongglancesofapigeonkicke...o-studios.html

Everywhere else I read seems to say that you've got zero chance of getting past the gate unless you know someone on the inside or have some serious clout.

I would much rather take a horribad comedy vs the propaganda angle, but that's just me.

That statue is freaking awesome!

almost forgot, to the left of the Godzilla statue (camera left), you can see the frontmost building on the Toho lot. It has this painted on the side visible from the street:

based on other smaller pics, that blue letter-topped walkway cover to the right is about 8 or 9 feet off the ground. That'll give you a solid sense of the scale of the mural.

I see your point though. Brave seems more like a Princess and the Frog/Tangled movie (Disney) than a typical Pixar movie.

There's a reason it was nominated for Best Picture (before there was best animated film category).

Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter was a hilarious movie. A few bits were a bit too ridiculous but other than that it was pretty fun.

I saw it last night, I quite enjoyed it. I watched Prometheus as well which was okay but a bit disappointing.

My GF got into Northeastern! Shes doing the elementary education program, going to be a teacher! Now that we're hockey east rivals we can follow Cody Ferriero and the Daniels brothers for the board. Super happy for her.
