what about Marty Reasoner? I would like to have him back. Would be good fit for the 4th line.

Hjammer + for Enstrom would solve a lot of our problems

maybe not... if Enstrom refuses to re-sign with the Jets

as long as this + wouldn't be Saad, they can have 2 prospects or our 1st or something like this

Supposedly Reasoner was terrible on the Island but I didn't catch much of their games so I don't know for sure.

Acquiring Enstrom does not solve this team's problems, no thanks at how much it would cost go get him especially.

Does anyone else want to see Ryan Smyth in a Hawk uniform? I think he would be great in front of the net with Toews and Stalberg or Kane.

not a bad idea. solid veteran. his 11-12 cap hit was $6.25m though. way too much IMO. and don't know how much of a pay cut he'd wanna take

- Trade up and draft a falling Mikhail Grigorenko
- Trade Viktor Stalberg + 2nd '12 to SJ for Ryane Clowe
- Trade Niklas Hjalmarsson and Brandon Pirri to Nashville for Ryan Suter in a sign-and-trade
- Trade Michael Frolik to Columbus for a 2013 3rd round pick
- Trade Bryan Bickell to NYI for a 2013 3rd round pick

Saad - Toews - Kane
Sharp - Grigorenko - Hossa
Clowe - Bolland - Shaw
Carcillo - Kruger - Beach

Keith - Searbook
Suter - Leddy
Olsen - Montador

Crawford
Emery

I can't stand Capgeek's new Cap calculator.. but I have the Cap number coming out to just under 63M.

He saying that NSH signs him and then trades him here.

That obviously only happens though in the NBA where teams can use it to circumvent the cap via the Bird rules. There's zero incentive for Suter to do that and not test the market...

ahhh, I figured he was talking about trading the rights lol.

Suter has already said he plans on testing the market.

This team needs a legitimate #3 defenseman (no, not Suter) and a grittier, in your face supporting cast for their really good core.

Out: Mayers (UFA), Brunette (UFA), O'Donnell (UFA), Lepisto (UFA), Oduya (UFA), Morrison (UFA), Bollig (AHL), Kruger (AHL), Leddy (AHL), Stalberg (trade for pick or picks), Frolik (AHL or Europe or trade for whatever you can get)...

In: Jason Garrison, Jim Slater/Derek MacKenzie, Mikael Samuelsson/David Jones/Latendresse (if Minny non-tenders him), Adam Burish, Ryan Stanton/Dylan Olsen

Sharp-Toews- Samuelsson/D. Jones/Latendresse
Hayes- Kane- Hossa
Bickell- Bolland- Shaw
Carcillo- Slater/MacKenzie- Burish

Keith- Seabrook
Garrison- Montador
Hjalmarsson- Olsen/Stanton

Kruger- Better on the wing than at center...not physical enough as a role player on a team that needs a grittier, in your face supporting cast;
Leddy- Rushed up…needs to play on both special teams and get a regular 25+ minutes a game in the AHL to reach his full potential as a top 3 defenseman;
Stalberg- Way to soft with the size he has…skillset not worthy of regular time…trade him while his stock is high;
Montador- Historically, he is better with the more ice time he gets;
Samuelsson/D. Jones/Latendresse- While injured often (which isn’t terrible since it gives the young a taste of the NHL), they are solid, two-way players that have track records of producing offensively. They all play with an edge;
Garrison- As good or close to the talent of Suter without the hype. He would be a great addition to the Hawks D corps.

Leddy's fine in the nhl. He just needs to be utilized properly, such as not killing penalties. He's already played over 100 nhl games. The ahl would hinder his development greatly

THIS!!

Get him off the PK, and he will be fine. You can't send him to the AHL after he's already played 1.5 seasons in the NHL.

I meant that Chicago would have an agreement in place to sign Suter once the deal is completed. Much like the Phil Kessel trade. Whether or not it goes down like that, Chicago would need to move Hammer for the roster to work.

Bryan Bickell's looked good in his post-season appearances.. that doesn't mean you should sign him to a 2-3 year deal worth 2.5-3.5M per.

Let Penner attempt to bounce back with another team.

yeah, that makes sense...

considering Penner has been a 20 goal scorer practically every year but this season...

he isnt going to get $3.5 mil

So, lets not play Leddy who's already appeared, as another poster mentioned, in 100+ NHL games and instead play Olsen/Stanton, the latter with 0 games of NHL experience. Okay.

Garrison is nowhere near as good as Suter. Nowhere close. Garrison is a good #4, Suter is a great #2.

Penner played for Edmonton when they were at their worst. He got premium ice-time and PP time. Since he's gotten to a competetive team in LA, he has 9 goals in his last 84 regular season games over the past season and a bit.

As far as what he'll make, Darren Dreger made it sound asthough there will be plenty of interest in Penner come July 1st.. and, as you said.. he has multiple 20-goal seasons on his resume. Some team will overpay, hopefully it won't be the Hawks.
