Fire Stan Bowman Part II

Obviously current events are Bowman's thinking that Oduya is better than Lubo and worth twice as much and that the 2nd line C position is not a hole.

Couple of points from the previous thread:

Drafting an undersized but talented 18 year old Finnish kid doesn't mean Kane is on the way out. You can't have too many Kane's.

I would have been in on Ribiero if that's all it took. Same with Lubo.

Burish, Eager and Fraser have been replaced. Mayers, Carcillo and Bollig all play there roles effectively. This team's problems aren't having not replaced the fourth line, it's the secondd and third that are the issue.

Enough with the personal shots. There will be very little leeway on it in this thread. Fair warning.

Hoss, I know you think Kruger is a good NHL 2nd line C and love Oduya, I just disagree. Hey, maybe you are right and he gets 50-60 points, we'll see.

Well if Stan can get some credit, I would think it would definitely be for the possibility of 2 solid drafts under his belt.

Dont think Ribiero was going to be dealt to the West.

I've never, in any way, said anything close to what you just typed.

No, really??? Then why wouldn't we take the guy we know will score 50-60 points if not more on a one year deal to bridge the gap to the young centers?

Because Ribeiro is a *********? Besides.. I doubt Dallas wanted to trade Ribeiro to a Western Conference team.. especially because Chicago is a "bubble" team, right? That's who Dallas will be competing with.

Me neither.

He would've been a great grab, but it takes two to tango. GMs tend to ask for higher prices in conference (and especially within their division).

It's kind of an empty point, but there is still a good chance we end up in Dallas' division in the next two or three years.

If we offered more, why would they decline it out of spite if it made them better, makes no sense at all.

They wanted Brandon Saad for Niklas freaking Grossman.. what do you think they'd want for Ribeiro?

Depends on how much they consider to be "more"

More like a 2nd round pick?

Or more like Bolland + Saad?

Grossman was dealt at the deadline Hoss. For Ribs I think they would want more than they got.

More than they got from an Eastern team isn't the same as what they'd demand from a Western team.. especially a playoff team.

Right. People don't understand this isn't NHL 2012....these GM's have real life considerations that come in to play. A deal you see with one team doesn't automatically mean its the same for every team.

Agreed, in the real NHL, teams look to get better, not cut their nose off to spite their face such as in NHL 12.

I think a huge part of being a GM is having some charisma and being a good salesman to get better deals for your team. You are very correct that not all teams will get the same deal because. There is a human factor in every deal made. Real life GM's just don't compared overall ratings like in NHL 12.

All will be well if he's able to sign Suter. Otherwise, barring a comeback year from Crawford, we are looking at the same old same old next year. Leddy can always make that jump to elite I guess, but I don't see it for next year, if ever.

I'd wait until July 2nd to make this comment, but knowing Bowman, I think you will probably be correct.
