Reasons I can see Subban going to the Isles and playing well.
1. He will could possibly get top pair minutes.
2. Him and JT91 are tight.
3. Subban is an NHLer and is a better option now than Dumba and Murray (which will be a couple years in the making). Isles fans don't want to wait any longer .
There isn't a word in the english language to cover the breadth of "WTF-ness" I felt when I didn't hear Zack Kassian's name called on that 12th pick.
That being said, while he doesn't really impress me and never quite has, I'll reserve judgment on him a little longer, though part of me still feels he was picked for being Tavares' teammate and little else. Just one dude's opinion.
Kulikov with almost 200 games at the NHL level, Nick Leddy with 128, Rundblad, Despres...It's still too early to tell but at this point it looks like there were several better D-men available.

No joke. I'd even go as far as this, since it is the Habs "Francophone Uprising" we're talking about:
To MTL: Rights to P.A. Parenteau, 4th overall pick, 3rd rounder
To NYI: P.K. Subban, 4th rounder.
I wonder how quickly Bergevin would give a polite "Non." if we gave him an extra pick and the first crack at a Quebecer UFA Forward.
Dehaan looks like he will be a top 4 defenseman within the next couple of years, I don't know how it looks worse by the second. Sure there were better players picked behind him, but nothing can be done about that now. I would be happy if we managed to get a top 4 defenseman every year if we were drafting #12.
Michalek or Martin would be great additions, but I can't see the Penguins trading them within the division, even if the Islanders are by far the worst team in the division.
That's all I'm saying.
M&M moving is going to be based on how comfortable Shero is with the young guys. Both Strait & Bortz are no longer waiver eligible & Despres is really forcing his hand with his out standing play.
How about Lubomir Visnovsky from the Ducks? Wouldn't cost you your 1st rounder (maybe your 2nd round pick?), has a cap hit of $5.6 but only makes 3 mill in actual salary and will be off your book next season
That would (imo) be especially awesome if the Ducks got Murray...
4th overall for Pitkanen & 8th overall makes a lot of sense in my eyes.
Carolina gets one of the big 4 forwards, which their prospect pool could absolutely use.
Islanders get both a defenseman to help now, and a defenseman to help later. It may not be the top guy they had in mind, but Dumba/Reinhart/Reilly/Trouba are all solid picks.
I would definitely consider this. I love Pitkanen.
Given the difference in the top 5 defensemen in this draft the Islanders could potentially get a player as good(if not better) at Murray at 8th(it's just a case of Murray being more of a sure thing)
I don't see why Carolina would trade Pitkanen though
He is targeting JayBo, Paul Martin, Keith Ballard, and Z. Michalek.
It was also rumored that he was willing to trade the 4th overall pick for PK Subban, but the new Habs GM is unwilling to trade him.
Were does it say he is targeting JayBo, Paul Martin, Keith Ballard, and Z. Michalek?
Below is the exact statement from Staples article: http://www.newsday.com/sports/hockey...ason-1.3786615
such as the Canadiens' P.K. Subban would have gotten Snow to strongly consider dealing the fourth overall pick, but new Montreal GM Marc Bergevin isn't moving Subban, according to those who've spoken with him.
There are other defensemen available, according to two NHL sources, but they are veterans playing mediocre hockey on fairly unworkable contracts: the Flames' Jay Bouwmeester, the Canucks' Keith Ballard and possibly the Penguins' Paul Martin and Zbynek Michalek.
So Snow likely will have to continue his search beyond the draft, hoping an arbitration case forces a team's hand, as it did with the Ducks and James Wisniewski two summers ago.
Do people bother to read these articles?Or do they just see what they hope to see?

From those comments, fans are rushing around posting that the isles are trying to trade for Subban,Jaybo,Ballard,Martin or Michalek.
Take Komisarek! He grew up an Isles fan and is from Long Island. Maybe a change of scenery is what he needs and going home could be good for him. He could likely be had for a conditional or late round pick.
They've heard that so many times that the ones who aren't already offended are ignoring you.
Meanwhile, I'm wondering if Methot is of any interest. We need wingers, badly.
