My god, when draft picks are done through fan consensus there doesn't seem to be any droppers.

Was just thinking,if we trade Luongo or Schneider and we bring up Lack.Who besides Cannata do we have as goaltender prospects.Maybe we take Subban?
My pick at 26 and hope he is there is C Scissons.

If Thrower wasn't available, I probably would have picked Subban myself. As we've found out with Schneider and guys like Varlamov, goalies can be a valuable commodity, I wouldn't have a problem developing another top goalie.

Dalton Thrower is so sick. Have a feeling the bruins are going to take him though.

Yeah, looking at who's left on the board I wouldn't mind Subban. Some analysts think if he were our goalie at the WJC that he would easily be a top 10 pick. With Lack coming up to backup whoever our goalie is, and Cannata in a timeshare starting in the AHL, Subban has about 2 more years left of junior eligibility before he can go to the AHL, and he could spend another 2-3 years down there. It wouldn't be a bad idea to go with him.

I agree with you, goalies are fetching a pretty penny nowadays. You could turn that 26th overall into multiple picks, or even roster players in the future.

Bystrom, can't believe he fell to us! If you guys have been watching about the last 4-6 draft votes, he's been gaining and was in the lad at some points. Kid will be solid.

I'd hope we'd take Thrower if still available

Martin Frk. The most skill, IMO, of the group and plays w/ a lot of tenacity. He was projected as a Top 10 pick at the beginning of the season, but his stock dropped w/ that concussion.

With only looking at the poll results and not knowing anything about him, can I assume Thrower is BC born?

Why yes he is.

Kinda sad no one dropped. Bystrom, Thrower in that order for me. I'd take Subban if we traded down with a mid second. Though, the devils probably kept their pick because they saw the top goalie prospects dropping to them.

It's gonna be funny how the real draft after maybe the top 5 picks will look nothing like this

Bystrom is an easy choice for me. Smart guy and such a solid pick and I was so glad that he fell to us but it looks like we want the "home town kid"
I'm not unhappy with Thrower, but that's not who I hope we pick.

Vasilevsky is the best prospect IMO, but canucks already are stacked in goals.

The best players would be

1-Vasilevsky
2-Thrower
3-Bystrom
4-Samuelsson
5-Wilson

As much as I'd love thrower on this team from what I gather this guy will be a heart and soul guy but probably won't mount to anything more then a 5-6 guy

I voted for Samuleson because he's a big, fairly talented, gritty centerman. Those are higher to come by then a 5-6 defenseman. My heart wanted to choose Wilson because of his leadership and grit but I believe Samuelson could be the better player of the two

In real life I'd be happy with Wilson, Samuelson or Thrower

We do have Honzik from the third round last year. It's too soon to tell if he's NHL material

How is leadership a major quality that stands out for Wilson? Never heard of this as a strength anywhere.

He's from BC, he's a Canucks fan and the player most scouts have compared him to is Kevin Bieksa.

I hear this all the time about Thrower but I'm really curious why this is taken for granted. What about his game is so limiting? Is he really slow? Is it just that he's too small? Hockey iq?

Because I bet they said Bieksa would never be a top pairing Dman. In fact, I remember reading some HF article talking about our prospects, back from 2003 or something like that, and it said something like Bieksa was a marginal AHL player with limited, if any, pro potential.

Add another to Thrower.(rookie users can't vote...)
Doubt he'll need it though.

sentimentality should not factor into your drafting choices. If Thrower is the best player available, then cool. but it sounds like from some of the comments here that there might be better guys still on the table.

but it s a mock draft so whatever.

You're right. That's why I voted for Ludvig Bystrom.

Nothing really sticks out in that group.

I'd move the pick or take Thrower, seems like you get similar talent 10-15 picks later and still have the chance to add another pick in the 2nd.
