So as we head into the week of the draft, I just wanted to get your guy's expectations/thoughts. Do you expect our goalie situation to be resolved by the draft? Or should we expect this to drag into the weeks after July 1st?

I'm not sure I could take Luongo - Part VIII....

I don't understand the hate for Booth around here. He came in early in the season and was just starting to get going when he took that cheap shot and was lost for 6weeks. Give him a training camp and full season before we are so quick to judge.
He was injured before Christmas.

From February 5th to the last playoff game he had 5 goals.

1 Assist total in the playoffs.

No excuses.

Not really going to affect whether or not he's going to be traded but, from his tweets, I can tell he's a little bitter about being traded. Most unfortunate for him, considering only a couple of seasons ago, most believed that he would have his jersey number retired by the Canucks.
Naslund had his number retired, so there's no reason why Luongo shouldn't either.

Remind me to never go and look at the T&R Luongo thread. It's rather infuriating to read the Leafs homer say that Luongo is worth Komi + 4th

Yeah, I am probably just going to take a break from there for a while. It's very difficult to try to discuss a trade rationally only to be inundated with countless "Luongo has no value" posts.

Now, I personally don't think that Gillis is going to get us a player that addresses our needs, but he damn well better. At the same time I don't think we will take on dead weight like Komisarek.

Well, my already dwindling respect for people has gone down even more.

I'd rather give Luongo away for free than take someone like Komisarek back.

Naslund spent 11+ seasons with the Canucks, 8 of them wearing a C.

If Luongo were to leave this offseason, he won't have even played the majority of his career as a Canuck.

There's 7 threads on this board, 12 on the T&R board....just spit balling on the trade, there will likely be 100+ threads if a trade is ever made.

I don't think it will happen until after July 1st, regretfully.

Likely not until late August, before training camp...if there is one.

The trade will happen and nobody will even comment on it. Everyone will just go about their day.

Luongo holds Canuck records though.

What? The play of Markus Naslund led the Canucks out of the abyss that was the late 1990s. With him on the team the Canucks went from a bottom-feeder to a cup contender, his final three years here notwithstanding. He was the leader on the most powerful line this team has had since the Bure days.

Luongo turned the team from a playoff team to a cup contender.

EDIT: Who gives a rip if Luongo holds more records? He was the first all-star goalie we've had in a long, long time. The goaltending history of this franchise before him was laughable but that doesn't minimize Naslund's tenure here.

Lets stop talking about number retirement, okay? I still have high expectations for this core, and even if ones of them leaves the team, I don't want us fading them into legend with the job is left half finished.

You mean February 18th... And that makes him 4th for goals among Canuck forwards from that point onwards.

Just to jump in without trolling.

It makes no sense value wise for the Devils to give up Zajac and our 1st for Luongo especially with Brodeur saying 99% he's back next year.

Move Zajac and our center depth becomes :

Henrique
Josefson/Elias ( If Patty returns to center )
Carter ( Pending FA )
Gionta ( Pending FA )

I wouldn't necessarily need the #1. Zajac on his own would be a good fit, IMO.

Yeah, Schneider + 2nd for Komisarek makes much more sense.

lol, didn't think so. some clueless flames fan suggests it and all of a sudden canucks fans jump on it like it's even remotely possible.

Agreed. It's actually insane if they did that.

Maybe I have lost my mind, but I think this trade may be reasonable: Kulemin, Kadri and Connolly/Schenn for Luongo. Am I nuts or is this getting close to fair value?

I could see how this could work for GMMG.

I don't think the "value" is far off, but I still don't like the deal because I don't like the fit of the players being offered.

If we are dealing with the Leafs then I just want a ton of picks coming back our way. I also might want Schenn only if we could deal him to another team(NYI, DAL, PHILLY.)

But when you look at it in terms of the following, it makes sense: Connolly has shown, in the past, to be an effective center; Kadri still has potential adding depth to our prospect pool; and Kulemin is one season removed from a 30 goal year.

Yes, we are taking on risk, but it is a risk which is valued fairly and if any of them pan out, a decent trade given the circumstances in my opinion. Schenn, instead of Connolly, is a similar risk. He's a potential shut-down d-man who had a poor year.
