Wild re-sign Josh Harding [3 Years/$1.9 million cap hit]

It appears Wild goaltender Josh Hading would rather stay in Minnesota long-term than sign elsewhere as a free agent.

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Harding is looking for a multi-year contract before he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
maybe what 2-3 yrs depending on the offer i wouldnt say no more then maybe 1-1.5 per yr

EDIT: Confirmed Signed with Wild

Or on the move. Hackett + Harding as a 1A/1B combo isn't bad. Looks like Backstrom could be on the outs? (Toronto?)

if this happens this tightens up the goalie market even more

That's pretty interesting. Everyone assumes that he is going to be a free agent and become a starter somewhere. Well, maybe that team is Minnesota. Possibly the Wild are going to resign Harding and look to deal Backstrom? He is younger and has shown some promise. Having him be the starter and Hackett backing him up is not a bad situation.

He's going to make more than 1-1.5. Think at least Brian Elliott-type money. 1.75-2.5m.

Backstrom isn't on the move unless the offer makes us better now. We're planning on rolling a Backstrom-Harding tandem for one more year before Hackett is ready to be our starter.

I'm sure Harding is looking for a multi-year deal. On the Wild. On the Leafs. On the Blue Jackets. On anybody.

However, it would be interesting to see if the Wild sign him to a 3-year, 7-8 million contract, and then look to move Backstrom.

Don't know. Tough call. Backstrom is more consistent, a true #1. Harding would be cheaper and young. Who knows.

I agree with the "at least", unless he takes a discount to be in one particular spot. Other than that, I'd be surprised if he did not garner more interest than Elliott did last year, which I'd expect to translate to the dollars.

Personally, I've always liked Harding and I'd be happy to see him re-sign with the Wild.

I'd be pretty shocked if we moved Backstrom before his current contract is over. Re-signing Harding for another 1-3 years makes a lot of sense because it doesn't rush Hackett and gives us good depth in net for at least the next year.

I can see why he'd be willing and want to sign with the Wild. Backstrom only has one year left on his contract so if he's able to outplay Backstrom this year, chances are he becomes their new starter. That's also good news for teams needing a very good starter for the forseeable future. Backstrom could be a UFA by next summer and could actually very well be available via trade during this season.

Can't believe he signed in Minny rather than going somewhere he could start immedietly, but good for him. Love the loyalty. Good job by Minny holding onto him too. Im guessing 2.1 million.

Lu's value just went up.

Harding will be the future starter in Minnesota, would Wild fans consider moving Backstrom for other pieces, sign Montoya to back up Harding?

Solid move for the Wild. In case Backstrom doesn't re-sign when his contract is up, they couldn't have banked it all on Matt Hackett. Good to keep Harding in the fold.

$1.9 million per season as per Mike Russo. Ridiculous deal if Harding's eventually penciled in as the starter. Nice one by the Wild.

Hackett, while very promising, is far from proven. I think the organization prefers to have him in Houston as much as possible this year.

Didn't expect this. And another steal.

Leafs fans getting nervous?

3 years @ $1.9 mill per is a great contract too, especially if Backstrom is dealt and Harding is their starter.
