Sharks don't have Terry ****ing Pegula bankrolling them. The money aspect is pretty ******* important.

Unfortunately, a strongly worded email to the league telling them that you are ******* the money and spending over the salary cap probably won't fly.

Right because Terry Pegula somehow makes the Sabres have a higher cap than anyone else? 7.8 doesn't change on any team

Well it does influence SJ when his real salary pay keeps going up and SJ doesn't have the money to spend to the cap anymore.

Switch their contracts and I don't think you'd find a single Sharks fan against trading Pavs at 7.8 for Nash at 4. If that helps.

Nash is more skilled than Pavelski.

He's just not making good use of it.

derp derp derp all trades are based purely on skill. money and cap can go **** themselves.

no one's arguing talent. they're arguing about the money/cap associated with the talent. how hard is that to understand?

Nash is a more skilled offensive player than Pavelksi. He is not 3.8M per for the next 6 years more skilled.

I don't care. If we're not allowed to suggest Nash might score more with Thornton, y'all aren't allowed to retroactively award trophies to Pavelski.

Bull****ing **** nobody's arguing talent! Everyone's swearing up and down that he won't do crap as soon as he leaves here.

More along the lines of suggesting his numbers aren't going to skyrocket as soon as he graces Jumbo's wing. Just like Heatley's didn't, just like countless others who've been traded to better teams and not had their numbers go up.

What? When did a retroactively reward a trophy to Pavelski? I said he came in 11th in Selke voting, which he did, yesterday...

What are you even talking about?

And I thoroughly backed up my assertion that Nash is not likely to increase his point production in one of the earlier threads by showing a good chunk of players in similar situations that did not improve, and asking people to find players that did. I got one response to that, James Neal.

Players do not often leave poor teams and join good teams and increase production. There are more variables in play than just "he'll get passes from Thornton!". It just doesn't work like that the vast majority of the time.

You trade for Nash based on 30g and 60p. Anything else and you are making a very bad bet statistically.

You mean the same Heatley that played four years next to Jason Spezza? That Dany Heatley? Not the guy who scored 40 goals with Manny Malhotra, but the one who scored 40 with Jason Spezza?

From the last couple pages, outside of Sharks fans everyone's swearing up and down that he'll suddenly become a 50 goal scoring winger destroying fools playing with Thornton.

Who's Jason Spezza? Sorry, I don't get a chance to watch any games east of the Mississippi.

Once we know where he is going to play, sure. If he comes to SJ, i'd guess about 60-68 points with 30ish goals.

The problem is that Pavelski, while not a better player than Rick Nash, makes 3.8 million less than Rick Nash. Most Sharks fans realize that even though Nash is a better player it may not be a good decision to take on Nash's 7.8 million. Is Nash 3.8 million better than Pavleski? I say no, but let's say you disagree. After adding a 1st, Clowe, and/or Demers (all of which have positive value) there has to be a point at which any sane, and knowledgeable, fan of hockey can at least see the reasoning behind why so many Sharks fans wouldn't want to do this.

As for the Pavelski, another roster player, and 2 futures, I'd happily give you Pavs, Handzus, and 2 6ths.

He'd score 40 and come close to 80 points with him, that much I'd be willing to bet quite a bit on.

I'd rather have Pavelski's 25-30 with 50-60 points, his defensive play, and 3.8M in capspace. He's a good player, but he's not what SJ needs.
