The only thing Jets fans wanted from us was Couture. And even then they feel that Kane has a higher upside than Couture.

We would have to give up Couture and I might be willing to do so.

I hope this Kane thing doesn't turn into another character assault, but I'm expecting it.

I don't see Kane as an upgrade to Couture, purely lateral. He might produce more offensively (might) but will never be as versatile as Couture. Couture has #1 center potential, Kane has #1 LW potential, centers are more valuable in general. Also Couture can play wing, is good at faceoffs, and I guarantee will be substantially better defensively throughout his career.

I don't see a point of making that trade, we don't get better, we don't get (much) younger. Why bother?

I think the argument that the Jets fans had was that while Couture will be a very good #1C he will not be elite. Whereas Kane will be an elite #1 winger.

Barret Jackman just re-signed with Blues. $3 million, $3.25, $3.25. Possible comparable for Stuart?

I can see that. Plus Kane will likely cost substantially more for the next 2 years than Couture as other teams can soon enter the bidding war.

I'd also like to put forth "Clowe's Encounters" for the title. Or "The Haves and the Hav-lats" as I feel they are better than "Yet to be Titled Creatively"

+1 for Clowe's Encounters. Maybe add "of the 3rd line" for good measure?

Even if they're equal players, Kane is a way better skater and a natural winger - which fills a couple needs.

I think so. He's a #4 like Stuart and that kind of deal for Stuey would be fine with me.

I'd be great with that both on and off the ice.

Looks like SJ won't have their 7th-round pick in 2014....

on the kane thing, id give up pavelski and vlasic for him. #1 center and a top 4 dman is a solid deal i think.

Overpayment. Maybe one of them and a pick or prospect depending on what else is coming back. Rather keep both of those guys though.

Calm yourself. It usually takes me a few pages to think of something good.

If Doug Wilson does that I'll fire him myself, somehow.

Evander Kane is gonna go for a lot less than what people think. He's good but he's nothing more than a faster Ryane Clowe.

Then trade Clowe and a pick.

For Kane I would offer something like:

Pavelski + Clowe

Pavelski + 1st

I assume they'd want Pavelski + something basically.

I'd deal Pavelski for Kane. The kid is pretty one-dimensional and very sheltered, but he is only 20 years old and just scored 30 goals playing with Antropov and Wellwood.

He actually might be the Sharks best realistic option to improve the team.

It would be tough to make that trade work....

Pavelski plus a first... are you nuts? I wouldn't want him that bad... Why do you all seriously undervalue Pavelski? Pavelski plus Clowe would be worse...

Agreed. Maybe Clowe, Murray, and a pick/prospect?
