Roussel, David-Alexandre G 1994-03-20 6'03" 183 L Longueuil, QC

Looking at the Titan depth chart on the left wing, here are the potentials in order of importance:
Matthew Bissonnette
Rafael Lafontaine
Etienne Salvail
William Cochrane
Michael Lyle
Carl Marois
Alex Gallant
Ludovic Kabambi
Nicholas Blanchard
and all the other draftees.

All this could change at training camp as some draftees might open Management eyes and change that order.
Obviously some like Gallant or Blanchard or Marois got that potential.

So it is not far fetched to believe that a guy like Kabambi could be moved
or that a young player like Lyle or Marois could become part of a trade.
Also there is a clear possibility that a left winger could be converted to right wing or center.
Cochrane played center for a bit last season and so did Stevens who is a right winger.
So getting a Euro centerman could be a real possibility.

Acadie Bathurst add to their LW depth and take Patrik Zdrahal from Cz.

Another LW on the way to Bathurst. Adam Zboril 5-7. Building great depth on the right side. And on another note as for Blanchard and Gallant: Blanchard can play center, along with R and L wing. And Gallant can play either wing as well.

Now that we know a little more about our new Euros, it is about time to look at what kind of potential the actual lineup could bring for next season.

Goals:
Brennan: I will say similar to Steeves last season, 50 starts, 0.890 and 3.30 gaa.
McDonald: 18 starts, 0.870, 3.75 gaa

Defense:
I expect to be better than last year specially taking into account Clarke's indiscipline last year and Blain's indifference as he wanted to be traded from the season start.
I can see a gaa 3.50 for the Titan next season.
individually:
Sean Girard: 8 goals and 32 assists for 40 points +10
Francois Godin: 5 goals and 35 assists for 40 points +10
Jeremie Fraser: 5 goals and 15 assists for 20 points +2
Olivier Houle: 7 goals and 15 assists for 22 points +/- 0
Samuel Robert: 2 goals and 10 assists for 12 points +10
Nick Egan: 2 goals and 8 assists for 10 points
**Alexandre Gosselin: 5 goals and 10 assists for 15 points

** I expect Gosselin to come out strong and move Egan out of his spot and move upward from there on.

Forwards:
Zach O'Brien:55 goals, 55 assists for 110 points
Matthew Bissonnette: 40 goals and 55 assists for 95 points
Brandon Hynes: 50 goals and 50 assists for 100 points
Christophe Lalancette: 30 goals and 50 assists for 80 points
Patrik Zdrahal: 20 goals and 25 assists for 45 points
Adam Zboril: 20 goals and 20 assists for 40 points
Alec Jon Banville: 15 goals and 45 assists for 40 points (on 3rd line)
Etienne Salvail: 15 goals and 15 assists for 30 points (on 3rd line)
Adam Stevens: 10 goals and 20 assists for 30 points (on 3rd line)
Michael Lyle: 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points (on 4th line)
William Cochrane: 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points (on 4th line)
Carl Marois/Alex Gallant: 10 goals and 15 assists combined for 25 points (on 4th line).

So 40 goals offense from the blueline and 275 goals from our offense = 315 goals.
Although it may sound high, there is no doubt in my mind that the Titan will be a very high scoring team this year by many more players than the 1st line as there is an excellent depth to that team on forward.
So conservative 285 goals to a potential 315 if every player stays healthy.
But there are at least 2-3 3rd liners who can take over if one of the Euros falter on the 2nd line.
Plus the Titan are not done tweaking.

Scoring 290 goals and giving up 238 last season would have meant a top-5 team.
Let's see where this will bring the Titan this season in what promises to be a very exciting one for the fan base.

Very wishful thinking. I doubt Godin puts up more than 20 pts let alone 40pts and Lalancette I'll say 60pts tops. As far as Banville , really?? 60pts on the 3rd line

Bolded all the lolwut. I don't know how you can argue with Moncton when your top 6 will consist of two unkonwns and two "40 point scorers"

And where did I say that?
IF we have 40 points scorer on the 2nd line, I indicated the Titan were not finished tweaking, nor the Remparts, nor Halifax, nor Moncton.

But you got to let everybody their chance first and assess what you got before filling holes if needed.

One thing is sure; the Titan have a lot of upside with a lot of youth who could perform very well.
Some will, and some will not.
Before last season, I had written a 80 points season for O'Brien and it turned out a 50goals/101 points season for him.
Nobody knew that Bissonnette would perform the way he did.

But that is what I see for the Titan....

Firstly I did predict 40 points for Banville and I corrected to put in 25 assists instead of 45....

I also forgot to mention Rafael Lafontaine who should score 15 goals and 15 assists next season.

As for Godin he was a ppg defenseman for the Titan last playoffs playing on the PP(6 1 5 6 +2 ).
In 91 Q games so far, he scored 29 points playing #5-6 in Victoriaville and Bathurst.
We could all see his skills at the end of last season.
He will be given a chance to play an important role this season and he is no doubt ready for it.

Crazy blow up?
We have 6 players apart the first line who could get a lot of points and they got potential:
Lalancette
Banville
Salvail
Lafontaine
Zdrahal
Zboril

That will make 3 scoring lines no doubt and that is why guys like Cochrane/Gallant/Lyle/Marois will have to play 4th line.

However I expect some of that depth gone by Christmas for a veteran D.

I have said all along that the Titan had an impressive forward depth, so it should not come to you as a surprise that I tally it down.

It would be the best 4th line in the Q I agree...
However I did not say that the whole 315 points would be scored....I went as low as 285....

But yes there is an awful lot of depth in that lineup.

I also forgot to mention Rafael Lafontaine who should score 15 goals and 15 assists next season.

As for Godin he was a ppg defenseman for the Titan last playoffs playing on the PP(6 1 5 6 +2 ).In 91 Q games so far, he scored 29 points playing #5-6 in Victoriaville and Bathurst.
We could all see his skills at the end of last season.
He will be given a chance to play an important role this season and he is no doubt ready for it.
And Samuel Roussy is going to score 34 goals this season with the Wildcats

Nice to have that problem to bother so much about the Titan

In this morning's Acadie Nouvelle, Dubois mentions that Brennan will have the biggest challenge as he needs to step in as a starter goaltender.

Also on defense, he mentions that Godin and Girard will be called upon to be top-3 Ds.
He also mentions that he will be looking to see Fraser and Houle step into bigger roles.
"Selon Dubois, même si les places
semblent rares, au moins quatre recrues
seront ajoutées à l’équipe.
Peut-être même plus.
«Dans la LHJMQ, il est important
d’introduire quelques recrues
chaque saison. Combien? Nous verrons.
Nous allons probablement en
ajouter quatre ou cinq.»
Acadie Nouvelle)

He mentions that a maximum of 5 rookies will make the lineup including the two Euros and probably McDonald and Lafontaine, so that leaves very little room for rookies like Gallant,Marois,Blanchard,Bernard,Gosselin,Doucet,N azarian.

Taking into account that the Titan got no choice but to add a couple of defensemen to complete their D raster, we can pretty well assume that Gosselin and Doucet could be part of the team.

That would leave absolutely no room for rookies unless some vets falter.
In that category we could include:
Stevens who I doubt would falter.
Lyle
Davis
Kabambi

I noticed that Mason McDonald is now listed at 6'3" and 200 lbs compared to 6'2" and 175 lbs at the draft....quite the jump.
Also Bernard mentions that he likes the physical play and that he is ready to make an impact from the start of camp and he is ready to fight if necessary in order to get his spot.He qu;lifies himself as being a power forward.

So to get back to the lineup, here are the pretty sure bets for the roster:

Goals: Brennan
McDonald(?)

Defense:
Girard
Godin
Fraser
Houle
Robert
Gosselin(?)
Doucet(?)
With potential:
Beckwith

Forwards:

O'Brien
Bissonnette
Hynes
Lalancette
Banville
Salvail
Lafontaine
Zdrahal
Zboril
Stevens(?)
Davis(?)
Lyle(?)
Kabambi(?)
With potential:
Gallant
Bernard
Nazarian
Marois
Blanchard

In summary this is gonna be a very competitive camp where the forwards group might be affected by veterans traded or cut and rookies stepping up.

From what I saw so far, here is what could be the definite lineup:

Brennan
McDonald

Girard
Godin
Fraser
Robert
Houle
Gosselin
Doucet
Dube

O'Brien-Lalancette-Bissonnette
Hynes-Lafontaine-Banville
Lyle-Zboril-Zdrahal
Salvail-Stevens-Marois/Gallant/Bernard

No room left for either Davis nor Kabambi.

I can see at least 8 forwards over 40 points on the first 3 lines.....probably the best depth in a long while for the Titan.
Salvail and Stevens on a 4th line is a big luxury not seen in years past.

I expect some trades for a veteran D though.

Absolutely ridiculous

You think that's good? Lol, the other 17 teams are licking their chops at the thought of that being a checking line. Have fun getting blasted 10-5 in the first round. Maybe you outta stick Gallant and Banville out for that defensive presence

What I see is a Titan team that will give a fit to your SUPER defense more time than none for the season to come.
That SUPER Moose defense allowed 3.75 GAA to the Titan last season and it is not gonna change with the team the Titan have this season.
What will change is a 3 lines deep offense which will spend over 60% of the time across your red line when facing the Moose....excellent recipe for a win.

Hey ok if you wanna go by that recipe all season we might even see you in Round 1 there mister midpack

Oh and I forgot that a team with 3 rookie defenseman and a 16yo goalie would not improve from a 3,75 GAA against the supertits. Silly me, progression is for Bathurst

I took a trip down to Moncton tonight to see the game, Zdrahal was far and away best player on the ice IMO. Dubé was trying to mix it up and I like his game style. Also liked Lyle. Zboril was just alright in my eyes. Gallant a little slow, and didn't quite have the confidence he had in midget. Didn't even notice Blanchard. Liked Marois. Kabambi was unnoticeable as well. Also like Gosselin. And whatever goalie started should get cut on Monday He was pretty shaky but i didnt check out who it was. First period Moncton was all over them but Bathurst really picked it up after that. Monctons forwards couldnt get the puck out well, nor could the D. Bathurst did have a few lucky opportunities, but Moncton did too, just couldn't capitalize as well as the Titan. Monctons D > Bathurst's D
Monctons forwards < Bathurst's
Goaltending was about equal. Pretty good game overall, great pace, but would have liked to see one of Moncton's bigger forwards (Arthur, Simpson, Thomas) step up to Dubé. Maybe tomorrow night. I'm not attending tomorrow Bathurst is a little too far away haha.

The Titan played the whole game with 4 Ds last night:
Gosselin
Doucet
Dube
Groleau

As far as Sirois the goaltender is concerned, he was the 3rd-4th best alternative in goals behing Brennan,McDonald and possibly Bernard.
Dube might find a job for himself this season as an 8th D behind all the others regulars plus Gosselin and Doucet.
It was an important test for him last night and I don't know yet what will be the decision on him.
Gosselin got the 6th D job available for him to grab.
Doucet will probably end up 7th D.
So having 4 Ds all rookies in the lineup against 6 Ds on the other side, I can understand that they missed a few assignments.
Lyle,Marois,Zdrahal,Zboril,Gosselin should all be part of the team.
I am still undecided on Gallant as he needs to step up.
The Titan will need to trade a player to find room for him.....
Kabambi is probably one on the bubble....

Zdrahal will be very good no doubt down the road.

I personally liked Dubé a lot more than Gosselin. Gosselin and Doucet are two guys that quietly get it done. No big hits, no highlight reel passes or plays, just solid. Dubé brings a physical game, and I honestly have no idea if Bathurst has any physical players on the backend, or maybe he was just trying to fight a kid a year or two younger and smaller than him, so it would look good on him. I was very impressed with Dubé though. He may just have been the best defenseman on the ice, it was him or Sweeney, but Sweeney coughed the puck up a lot. Both teams seem to have good prospect depth, with like I said before, Bathurst better forward depth, and Moncton better D depth. And good to hear for Sirois because if Brennan faulters, he would not be a good back up plan. If McDonald play like he can, he'll be there no doubt.
