Hurricanes/Thrashers playoff series would have been a great road trip for me
If I was to expand NHL teams:

Oklahoma City
Salt Lake City
Seattle
Las Vegas
Kansas City

Thats the top 5 american cities I would try first.

A second team in Toronto
Nova Scotia
Kitchener
The Staals' backyard
Quebec City

All five of these cities would NEED teams before we could even THINK of putting one in Seattle. I mean, there's not a single hockey team in the state of Washington...

No thank you. Imagine if the Leafs' fanbase on HF split into two teams' worth of dumb trade proposals and prospect overhyping.

Couldn't they make idiotic trade proposals with each other then?

You gotta remember guys that Gary Bettman *HATES* Canada, and he takes his orders from David Stern and possibly Nick Saban.

So, my list of top 5 expansion//relocation lists.

Baton Rogue, LA
Starkville, MS
Montgomery, AL
Little Rock, AR
Savannah, GA

The third one makes extra sense cause we already discussed how Alabama is an untapped hockey market in the other thread yesterday

I'm not saying they wouldn't...but trying to sift through the filth on the trade board for a good proposal. It's bad enough as it is now.

So...

Not sure if it's been pointed out here yet, but the NHL loses its contract with NBC on friday, NOV 23rd. Doubt the owners let this date pass???

maybe???

Meh, I doubted they'd stretch it into the season about 2 months ago... I'm just gonna stop worrying about when it's going to happen and just let it happen. Nothing I can do about it...

Scott Gomez confirms what we already knew, he's at the same level as a player as Cam Ward...

Source? I thought the league still gets the $200 million for this year, but an 11th year at no cost is added if there's a full season lockout.

UGH... and so it begins.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=406758#YourCallTop

Games cancelled through October 24th. First game on my plan is October 28th. Once that game gets cancelled, I'm asking for my money back.

Hopefully these guys get their crap together soon.

I'm going to stick it out. 5% interest on my money is a pretty good return in this economy. Plus a 10% discount next season and a 5% discount the season after that. Some will say they can just jack up the prices to cover that, but they'll do that no matter what if they can still sell tickets.

You may as well just do it now. They're not getting anything done in the next 3 weeks.

I'm in Charlotte and there's no guarantee there will be a plan with all SAT/SUN games next season.

Plus, I'm pissed as heck and want to make a statement (as insignificant as my two measly 12 game mini-plans may be in the grand scheme of things).

Jared Staal would have to have improve IMMENSELY to make the Carolina Hurricanes roster, so much so that I think it'd be impossible. But if there's a full season lockout, and he continues to improve at this rate, could he be a 2013-2014 3rd or 4th liner? I know I'm being optimistic, and up to this point he's been literally THE most irrelevant player in our entire organization, but working with Eric has to be a good thing, and the potential to play with TWO brothers might be a little extra motivation as well. They're saying he's looking good. If he can become a full-time AHLer this year, on THIS stacked Charlotte team, I'd consider that to be a pretty good start, wouldn't you?

He survived the cuts today, that's obviously a good sign. The kid can play the game, we just have no idea what his ceiling is. He's getting it through his head I think that he has to really do more to stay. Either that or he always felt inferior, and is now maturing enough to shake that off and give it a real shot. Either way, good for him for showing up like he means business.

I'm not exactly sure where to post this, and I'm sure many of you have seen it already, but it somehow made it past me until now, so maybe some of you haven't seen it as well.

No Canes on either team, but Ovechkin's Dynamo is playing Chara's Lev right now on ESPN2.

Jaro Svoboda's on Lev. Kinda fun to watch him play...

EDIT: Barry Melrose sucks. He just keeps talking about how crappy the brand of hockey is compared to the NHL.

Melrose has this absurd idea that the Juraj Mikus's are brothers, because they have the same name. Levy, whether legitimately or just for the hell of it, has bought into it, and now they keep referring to the "fact" that they're brothers and every time they do Melrose throws out this obnoxious over the top cackle.

Tripp? TRIPP? Where are you Tripp?
