also isn't DB on the short-list to coach the Olympic team?

can Olli Jokinen play wing? I'm really just trying to figure out a list of players at this point.

You want hungry? Get Nash and Penner. Always hungry.

We'd have to if want to be able to compete with Minnesota and Detroit. I can see them taking a discount to come here but I don't see us going much above 7 mil caphit if we're trying to get both.

Guys like Whitney, Penner, Kulimen ect... are not going to offset or improve on Staal's loss. They really shouldn't even be in the discussion after the draft day deals.

Ray Whitney --14th in the league in scoring-- wouldn't help offset the loss of Staal? You know if they don't cost 7 million dollars, we can afford two of them right? We don't need to replace Staal with one guy.

He would definitely help the powerplay. Staal or no Staal.

Kulemin and Whitney would be an excellent offseason.

absolutely. Malone could work in place of Kulemin, I think he'd be easier to acquire. Costs more, but you'll have that.

The likely hood of getting Whitney, or another player people have brought up Doan is unlikely. Whitney has set up shop in the desert and from what I have heard from Yotes fans is that he has hinted to when he retires he wants to live in that area. After moving from Carolina to Phoenix I don't see him coming back East. If he does sign with a team other than Arizona then itll probably be a team in that division or at least in the the Western conference.

And Doan said he won't leave the team unless its relocated. So I would scratch ether of them off the lists of forwards to appear in our sweater next season.

I knew that about Doan. Didn't about Whitney. That's a shame. For us at least

My point still stands. We can be a very good team even without Parise, Nash, Ryan or Suter.

My favorite one so far. But I don't know that $7.000m gets it done for Suter or Parise let alone both.

Oh, agreed. Just sharing. Gotta respect their opinions, I serve with quite a few people from Arizona, and they love the Phoenix area. Not exactly a hockey hot bed, but they love the area for the dry weather, out doors, and people. Doan most certainly likes it there, given his statements, and with the speculation given by Coyotes fans seems Whitney has found home there too. Cant blame them. I live in San Diego, relocated from Pittsburgh and the Ohio Valley via the Navy. I love it here with the dry weather here. People from Phoenix say San Diego is basically home minus the sand storms and added beach front. Haha.

I'd be content with just Parise (unless both were willing to sign for 6.5m), as we have a ton of D in the system. Signing someone like Allen and moving Martin (or heck even keeping him) gives us a lot more flexibility going forward.

I just don't want to be in Chicago's situation where they have 4 key forwards and 2 key D (all on friendlier deals cap wise) than the Pens. And they still have to pick and choose how to fill out their roster. With Malkin and Crosby's cap hits, and potentially Suter and Parise and Letang, and MAF, it could make things tighter than needed...

That's all we can realistically afford IMO. Frontload the contracts. Sell both of them on the situation here.

People can question having Nisky in the top 4, but the NHL ready depth on D can move up if he struggles. Look to sign Allen or make another trade midseason if necessary.

I don't want two good players I want one impact player. Whitney had a great regular season but is 40 years old & average in the playoffs.

that might be what you want, but its not what we need. We have more impact players than most teams in the league already. If we can get more, ya that'd be great. But we can win without them.

Man did I pick the wrong weekend to go camping. The Staal trade I saw coming, but not Z. At least Shero is keeping HFBoards interesting this summer.

How high do you guys think Shero will be willing to go for these guys, Parise and/or Suter?

Because once July 1 hits, there's talk Parise could get 9 and Suter, at least 8. I personally think that's too much in both cases.

I would go 7m for Parise. They should be able to afford it if they were offering Staal 6m they sure could work out something to free up a milion extra.
