You need to get that poster to laugh. His next proposal may well be Eberle for LaRose.

Hey, not fair. I got it, I know him well from repeated LaRose for JStaal offers. *throws tantrum*

'Canes only downgrade slightly in goal (Ward .915sv% vs Dubnyk .914sv% last year) while saving a ton of money. In return for Edmonton taking on Carolina's salary burden, they only have to give up Gagner+2nd for Skinner.

I think it's a fair deal for both sides.

If the Oilers could get the 8th overall from Carolina for Gagner + (32nd?) and then send the 1st overall to a team like Toronto for the 5th overall +, they could have a VERY could draft day.

As much as Yakupov would be hard to pass on, they could end up with something like Schenn, Murray, and Grigorenko. That would be impressive. Nevermind that, if they could pry Gardiner from Toronto, they could potentially end up with Gardiner, Schultz, Murray, and Grigorenko.

IMO, this is a year where Tambellini could trade down to accumulate multiple assets (some proven, not all futures) and I doubt Edmonton fans would lose their minds whereas in previous years you would cringe at the thought of NOT picking Hall or The Nuge.

We have enough guy like Omark. We won't get him from Oilers.

I don't get the Gagner hate from a lot of people, but McBain + for him would make sense.

Edmonton fans don't throw Gagner into proposals because he is bad. They throw him into proposals because he doesn't fit our team as well as he would others.

Believe it or not, he actually has value outside of HFBoards.

No thanks.

No to the 8th for Gagner either.

Only one I might do is Gagner for McBain straight up, and even that would be tough.

As was stated Gagner is thrown into a lot of proposals as we are an overly soft team and undersized in our top 6 and our other under-sized players/ not overly physical players Eberle, Nugent-Hopkins, and Hemsky (when healthy) are all better than him. Which makes him the odd man out, it's more an issue of trying to find better balance in our top 6 or addressing more glaring needs, than it is we don't like Gagner. I like Gagner quite a bit and don't mind keeping him and he is still young and is still improving year to year, which is pretty obvious to most who watch him regularly and don't just focus on the stats.

A lot of Oiler fans under appreciate Gagner just cause we got the 3 whiz kids upfront who passed him so fast on the depth chart it made it look like he was standing still. Every year he plays a little better d is a little smarter making some more veteran plays and is a leader in the room especially for the younger guys. He works really hard in the summer as well to improve himself, he came into camp substantially quicker this year but took a spill into the boards and messed up his ankle which pretty much shelved the progress he made in the summer.

How is Gagner not worth an 8th overall pick did the value of picks drastically increase in the last 5 years? He was a 6th overall pick and is 22 years old, has played in 366 games the only player 22 or younger who has played more games is Patrick Kane. Gagner also has 220 points which puts him 3rd in the same age group behind only Kane and Stamkos. If the oilers cant get at least an 8th overall pick, why trade him?

I'm not surprised teams are interested in Sam Gagner.

The word covet, however I would say is a bit strong.

Shawn Horcoff back up to the second line if we trade Gagner. And Gagner+ for 8th? God no.
