I really, really hope AV ditches his usual pre-season routine and actually lets his final roster play a few games together. I'm kind of sick of a bunch of scrub pro-tryouts playing most of the pre-season games.

This. Especially after the team has started slowly for how many consecutive years now?

That slow start would KILL us in any other division.

Yikes, so in addition to overplaying top players to win the PT, we should try to win all the exhibition games?

Way to take what he said and COMPLETELY twist it. What he meant was that give the regular a chance to play together in the Pre-Season, which is not something AV is known to do.

Coincidentally we've started slow for as long as I can remember. No one supports AV playing Kesler 20 minutes a night when he has a bum shoulder and with nothing on the line except the meaningless (I really hope you all get it now) President's trophy, but the veterans should get more than 1 game in the Pre-Season. Especially when the Canucks are coming off a much longer offseason than their last.

The one date I have circled is Monday October 1. Will it be the Coyotes or Nordiques?

Yeah, I could reply to Jarko, but Struckmatch gleaned exactly what I was trying to say. I'd like to see the team get off to a better start - they don't need to play in all the pre-season games, but having 2/4 games to get in sync before the games begin to matter would be nice.

Yeah. Regardless of how much Gillis improves the team in the offseason, I'm going to be deeply pessimistic if we're still giving AHL third liners regular icetime a week before the season starts. But if I had to put money on it one way or the other, I'd bet on it happening again.

Too many useless preseason games. Cut it to 3-4 and start the season quicker.

First time in awhile there's no Anaheim, and that we play someone other than them, SJ, CGY and EDM

This is pretty spot-on. Hopefully no Desbiens, Bolduc, Nolan type guys out in key situations and keeping the Sedins, Burrows, Bieksa type guys stale.

It would be nice to see some competition though...Hopefully Jensen, Friesen and the like keep our normal roster players on their toes.

Just play at least a 90% roster in the last 2 games.

Yeah I was going to say, finally we know the exact exhibition dates that will be cancelled as the league and the PA squabble over escrow details or cap loopholes or whatever..

Our team had just come off a long playoff run and didn't need to play meaningless preseason games. A rested team led to another presidents trophy. I have no problem giving the Sedins, Hamhuis, Burrows, Bieksa, Edler, Salo etc a rest. I would like to see the third and fourth line guys get the ice time and even gain some chemistry if possible. They don't get many opportunity's in the regular season to show what they can do.
