^^The Isles have the #4 overall pick.

Also you forgot Babchuk.....not that it makes the D look any better.

Even better if it's the 4th lol. If it has to be part of a package that involves a top ten pick, say 6th and a 2nd or something it would fine I guess.

Yeah, Babchuk would slot in as the #7 guy ideally.

It seems like a win-win for each team.
Colorado CANNOT accept anything outside of similar digits coming back their way. They are ridiculously low on the cap scale, even when they sign the half dozen RFA's they have, they'll still be incredibly low... with more or less the same team.

Cammi - Stastny - Iginla
Tanguay - Cervenka - Glencross (This is a responsible line, unless Cervenka really can't carry his weight)
Bartschi - Backlund - X (X being a FA, or one of the many kids we have in the system)
Done and done.

I can't see Bouwmeester returning a top ten pick, at least not with Feaster at helm. Maybe if Don Maloney was the Flames GM.

We'd also have to go retardedly hard after one of Coliacovo, Wideman, Rozsival, Carle, Garrison, and even possibly go for more than one. Plus probably a stop gap guy like Aucoin, Kubina, Kuba, keep one of Sarich or Hannan, Salvador, Gill, Souray.

Cause if we move Bouw our D looks like the following:

Gio-Blank
Butler-Blank
Brodie-Smith

So if we can get one from each category of defenseman, or get another via trade for Backlund, then I'm okay with it in the short term, since it benefits in the long term.

Personally I'm really hoping for Coliacovo and/or Rozsival to play with Gio.
Agreed, though, I would take a chance on Galchenyuk, if we get the #4 pick.

Id do it but it would create a huge gap on our blue line, and I doubt us getting Suter so can't afford to give up Bouwmeester.

I'd do this without hesitating. With the #10 pick, we could possibly get Faska or Reilly, and with the #19 pick, we could get someone like M.Finn or B.Gaunce. And with that, we get Aulie, who could possibly be a #6/7 defenseman.

This trade helps our prospect pool greatly.

Would rather use the 10 on a defenseman like Ceci or (fingers crossed) Reinhart and than use the 19 to get a forward.

Which was Sutters fault. He had a decent season last, and was a huge weapon on our PP, yet when our PP struggled and was missing a bomb from the point, he still refused to play him..

To be fair babs gets so little play time and is often in he box, he hasn't really gotten into a good rythmn or or stays match fit at tht rate. I hope he gets some consistent minutes as I do believe he is better than a 7th dman. I see him as 4/5 guy pp specialist like Souray.

Precisely my thoughts as well. When he played , he seemed to get progressively better.

Backlund's value has never been lower - trading him for "current market value" should get Feaster fired IMO, might as well see if he rebounds here. If someone overpays, (for "potential") then fine, make that deal.

Everyone in hf always overvalue their own people which is why we usually never agree with any proposals lol

I agree with this. He's not a liability on the 3rd line so let him play there. He's a center, he likes the organization and will probably sign for reasonable $ so might as well keep him around.

I guess Bouwmeester's value is also at an all time low right now but I would not be upset to see him go.

Yup that's the type of package they'd want. Glencross and Giordano have lots of trade value, JBo and Backlund don't. Even though some of our homer fans see JBo as our best defensemen, objective observers certainly don't. If I was an opposing GM, I'd want two of the following 3 assets and a 1st coming back for MD and a future 2nd pairing defenseman (Barrie, Siemens or Elliott): Bartschi, Glencross or Giordano.

Jbow + Backlund to Oilers for either Maricin or Klefbom + Smid
Big difference between Marincin and Klefbom. I wouldn't do either trade, but I'd consider it with an additional asset coming back if the player was Klefbom, wouldn't if it was Marincin. Smid is overrated IMO.
