Mark Kelley's take on this draft...

The most interesting take I got from Kelley's comments on the Blackhawks website was that he felt this draft had a strong crop of goalies with at least 10 they think have potential to be NHL starting goalies in future...

THIS could imply the Hawks will not be taking a goalie in round one as some have speculated, but could delay taking one till round two and possibly take another in round three if there is someone remaining that they like ...

So their strategy could be take a position player at #18 THEN there still should be a few of their 10 goalies they think having starting NHl potential that they cn select from in round two and possibly also in round three...

Kelley seemed to imply no conensus as to who was the top goalie for this draft --so if unsure --maybe they instead focus on which goalie to target among several likely to stillbe there at #48 (assumimg NJ is using their first rounder and not forfeiting this year, else we draft at #47)..So at either #47/48 whichever it is we should get a goalie our scouts think is a potential NHL starting goalie as they think it is a strong goalie crop this year...(PATERSON.STOLARZ.OLSON, MURRAY, GILLIES
these are just some of the NA goalies who could stillbe on the board)...In other words i think our scouts see potential for mining goalies in rounds two and three so why risk on one in round #1?)...

Guaranteed we won't take a goalie round 1. Personally I hope we package a roster player and our 1st to move up.

I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on 6'5" Anthony Stolarz. Jon Gillies is another good choice. Houser is older and a good goalie. Collin Olson has a lot of potential. Oscar Dansk could make it to our 2nd pick.

There is just no reason to draft a goalie #1 IMO. So much goalie talent this year. Goalies are mostly a crap shoot anyways so we should take a goalie in the 3rd/4th(if Dansk isn't avail) and then again in the 6th/7th or maybe with one of the two 5th rounders. Just my opinion.

.No first round goalie unless it's a Carey Price talent. Subban isn't close to that level

I've seen a few draft profiles that mention Price as a comp for Subban.

There is a certain Russian goalie with that level of talent

But this isn't 1999 ,, If the KHL wasn't around he would be getting Campbell like draft projections

We can only hope Bowman doesn't make that comparison. Different echelon of players.

I'm a fan of Vasilevski but there's really nothing to show he's that caliber of player. Looked average at the WJC's, admittedly the only time I've seen him play, and his stats in the Russian minors are matched by his teammate on a strong team. I wouldn't drop a top five pick on him.

Bowman doesnt waste his first rounders on euros, which is refreshing considering the toughness factor that a true NA kid brings that a euro just doesnt have.

This team needs to get tougher, not softer. They have one of the softest players in the leauge in Kruger and hopefully, Bowman can convince a GM to take that load of toliet paper off his hands for a decent draft pick. We need men moving forward.

Krüger is not soft... he just hasn't much strenght. big difference. And there are enough tough players from europe.

looking at the country they were born is the last thing Bowman should look at.

Not to mention that Bowman REALLY wants the euro Zemgus Girgensons

It concerns me that he was only able to muster 9 goals in junior last year. Tough is good but you have to be able to play.

I'd say look back and Lucic's junior career, very similar. Plus, look at what Wilson did in the playoffs, almost beat his regular season goal total. He's clearly improving and big guys come around slower. Lastly, look at the team he was on, absolutely LOADED with scorers and Wilson still tied for the team lead in goals in the playoffs.

You make some good points and you may very well be right. Still the guy scored 12 goals in his first 77 games. Is that the real guy or is it the one in the playoffs? Forgive me, but I remain a little sKeptical.

Also, Girgensons revealed that Chicago appears to be the team most interested in drafting him. ‪#NHLDraft‬ ‪#Blackhawks‬

Krüger is not a soft player

just go to the Draft 2012 thread and you'll see that Bowman is interested in this latvian kid

A Tweet means nothing.

Let me know when you have a link from Bowman himself which, even then, could be nothing but a smoke screen.

If that's how you feel why even ask for the link in the first place?

Because anybody who believes such drivel in the first place needs to be called out on it.

When did a random tweet suddenly become anything but a random tweet?

Out of curiosity....who or what do you believe? What link will allow you to think something is true or not. What source? There have been mistakes made at every level of reporting. So nothing is 100% concrete. Relax Francis.

The player himself said that the Hawks are interested in him... that's like Bowman saying it.
