Poll - rank these draft picks in order of whom you'd like the Jets to select

Rank them in order from your first choice to your last, and when everyone's done, I'll derive the summary. I've eliminated the players who are most likely to have been taken ahead of us.

Mathew Dumba
Radek Faksa
Mikhail Grigorenko
Griffin Reinhart
Morgan Rielly
Teuvo Teravainen
Jacob Trouba

Results so far (Name/Average Ranking):

Mikhail Grigorenko 2.2
Teuvo Teravainen 3.7
Radek Faksa 3.8
Griffin Reinhart 4.1
Jacob Trouba 4.1
Mathew Dumba 4.3
Morgan Rielly 5.7

I haven't watched much video of a few of them, but having only a semi-informed opinion hasn't stopped anyone on HF Boards before, so...

1. Grigorenko
2. Dumba
3. Trouba
4. Faksa
5. Reinhart
6. Teravainen
7. Rielly

Edited because like, I was overthinking it. This is a closer mix of heart + head than first list.

Going entirely on scouting reports on the internet and the type of players I'd like to see the Jets take, this is my list:

1. Grigorenko (not sure why anyone would think he'd fall that far)
2. Trouba
3. Reinhart
4. Faksa
5. Dumba
6. Rielly
7. Teravainen

Realistically there's no way Grigorenko falls that far, so I'm hoping the Jets get Trouba or Reinhart. I wouldn't be disappointed if Faksa or Dumba was taken though. Dumba sounds like a high risk, high reward type of pick however.

I would have moved Olli Matta to the 3rd spot if he was in your list, and Rielly should be picked after the Jets somewhere.

1. C Mikhail Grigorenko - His issues are VASTLY over exaggerated, if he slips to 9 (extremely unlikely) and the Jets pass I will be supremely pissed off
2. C Radek Faksa - Anybody wants to know my opinion on Faksa look at sig or ANYWHERE on this forum.
3. D Jacob Trouba - Incredibly smart, slick defender, he is a solid talent at both ends of the rink, he has a good first pass, good skater, solid positionally, does all the little things right.
4. LW Teuvo Teravainen - Elusive and creative player, Teravainen has big upside as a scoring winger, he has great hands and offensive awareness, but is a one-dimensional offensive guy (not there's anything wrong with that but Kopitar type potential > Pat Kane type potential)
5. D Griffin Reinhart - Has the size, moves the puck well, skates well, but sometimes lacks the consistency and grittiness you would expect of someone of his mold. Could be an elite defender, might be a botton pairing guy.
6. D Matthew Dumba - Real boom or bust potential. Could be Kris Letang, could be a career AHLer. Loves to be aggressive, loves to jump up in the rush, not sold he will be able to continue that style in the bigger faster NHL.
7. D Morgan Reilly - Dislike taking a one-dimensional defenseman in the top 10, Reilly is smooth defender that skates well, passes well, but is very questionable defensively. Not completely sold on him.

Guys like C Zemgus Girgensons, C Brenden Gaunce, D Olli Maata, D Cody Ceci, C Tomas Hertl, and G Andrei Vasilevski deserve to be in there if we are talking about who the Jets will draft. Several of the ones I listed I would take above the ones you listed.

When I read about Gaunce I immediately thought that if the Jets did another off the board pick, Gaunce would likely be the guy. Big, strong, hits, plays a solid two-way game, finds open ice and has a good shot but lacks top-end speed and puck handling skills - basically how I'd describe Ladd but as a center. Then again, by taking Scheifele over Couturier they showed they were clearly looking for someone with more top-end offensive potential and didn't mind if the physical development took more time. Who knows.

Have you watched him play? He may be the single most overrated prospect in the last 3 drafts.

Faksa is better for Winnipeg in literally every way.

Someone should make a little graph of where they slot on average.

You could also add an extra "other" slot for someone you might deem as a reach, but you think is still a very valid "top 10" pick.

3. Faksa
4. Reinhart
5. Dumba
6. Trouba
7. Reilly - but would be more than ok if he was picked.

I also am not too interested in Gaunce.

I am sure the Jets would be interested in Pearson, do they try to trade up in the 2nd?

and despite being always listed as a LW, Teräväinen is a center. He played as a Center in the A-juniors and Jokerit GM said that he will play as a center in SM-League next season.
The funniest thing about him being listed as a LW is the fact that he played as a RW most of the season in SM-League.

edit: He was also center in the U-18 World Championship.

That might be so, but I still see him projecting to the NHL level as a winger (whether that be LW or RW). I am a firm believer that the center needs to be the best defensive forward on the line, and I not convinced that Teravainen will be that guy. Much like I don't like Pat Kane at C, I don't see Teravainen playing center at the NHL level (another examply might be Mike Cammalleri who was a center at NCAA and AHL to move to wing at NHL level).

I've been looking at these candidates and I really have no idea, there's things I like about all of 'em

Hope we get Grigorenko though. That would be awesome.

I still don't really believe it but Bob McKenzie said in an interview the other day that he wouldn't be surprised if Grigorenko fell out of the top-10, I think if he was available for us the potential would be too good to pass up.

That Said:
Grigorenko
Teravainen
Faksa
Trouba
Reinhart
Dumba
Rielly

As much as I expect and am okay with them going with a D, I'd almost always advocate taking a forward early.

Faksa is exactly what the Jets need - size down the middle and is defensively responsible beyond his age. Would challenge for a spot at camp.
Griffin Reinhardt - will eventually be a beast but is years away.
Jacob Trouba - is the safer pick versus Reinhardt but GR has more edge to his game.
Morgan Rielly - could be a Niedermayer type but the knee issue scares me.
Mathew Dumba - a smaller and even more erratic version of Phaneuf. Looks great in the Dub but am unsure if his game will translate in the bigs.
Teuvo Teravainen - super skilled, but tiny.
Mikhail Grigorenko - also super skilled, disappears for long stretches. His heart is in question.
