Has their been any confirmation it would be for SEL or SEL-2?

It'll be interesting to see where he goes. It's been brought up that Markus Naslund (ex-client of Gillis) now runs MODO. Could be a place where Jensen ends up (along with now ex-Canuck Samuel Pahlsson)

Their is an interview with Jensen at danish tv2sport.dk. Here are the gist of what he is saying. Might clear up a bit of the questions that have been asked by fans.

"It was Vancouver who suggested him playing in SEL for one season,if he did not make the team"

"Its SEL and only SEL.. not Allsvenskan"

"Canucks knows what is best for my development, and if they want me to chose Sweden for the next season, that is fine by me"

Then he speaks something about the difference between junior hockey and senior. He also speaks about which club.

Says that Canucks and his agent are talking to various clubs, but he would not mind if it was Modo, were Naslund are a part of the management team.

I'd say it's a very good sign that the Canucks management is a part of this.

Another thing about that article that I find interesting, is his comments about the difference between Junior and pro hockey. He says that in junior you easily end up running around after the puck a lot and there's not a lot of structure in the way they play. While in the pros, and especially in Sweden, it's much more about tactics and smarts, and he thinks that suits his game better.

Thanks for this, great find. Interesting to see Gillis thinking outside the box and utilizing the European leagues as a way to help develop players.

And Jensen is the most 'popular' last name in Denmark, everyone knows a Jensen, so I would guess that it pretty quickly becomes easier to just roll with the flow and accept that when you are in Denmark you are a 'Yensen' and in Canada you are a 'Jensen'.
Obviously everyone should call him by his name, "Yensen". That's why people have names. It's not like it's hard to pronounce or anything. And as someone else says, his grandparents came to Canada from Denmark, and that's why his father went to Denmark when he decided to leave Canada.

As a littlle bonus info, the Danish way to say "J" follows the phonetic alphabet. The English way would be with dʒ as the first consonant. [/nerd]

Watch Jensen, Schroeder and Kassian all make huge strides before the season begins.

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Jensen - Schroeder - Kassian
Booth - Malhotra - Hansen

YESSSS!!!

(only kidding, since Jensen isn't even LW)

A kid line would be cool though, especially since the line would show we have futures lined up to replace the Sedins.

Jensen plays on either wing.

Anyone see the NHL-CHL agreement being rewritten if this occurs often enough over the next few years?

Doubt it, as this won`t happen with Canadian players.

The rule is there for a reason and frankly it`s a good rule.

After playing in the OHL for 2 years, do you think that playing on bigger ice again for 1 season will screw with his game much, if at all?

Why would he be in the sel-2? He's better than 90% of the players in the sel-1

I don't see it. We don't need him to work on his physicality, but rather his offensive and defensive abilities.

He'll be able to work on his offensive and defense much better in the SEL.

CKWX has learned that #Canucks #1 draft pick Niklis Jensen will play for AIK in Stockholm next year if he doesn't make VAN.

So if Jensen plays in the SEL does that burn a year off his contract or is that only if he plays professionally in North America?

I believe it slides since he's under 20.

Shows good confidence and ambition from Jensen in my opinion, wants to test himself against better players and also confident he can get reasonable minutes in the SEL.

Ah yes, that makes sense.

Jensen was close to making the team out of camp last year, I wonder if they'll give him 9 games at least this year to see where he's at, especially with Kesler out.

That COULD present a problem with his SEL contract. I believe he gets an out to come to our camp but I don't know if those 9 games would fly with them or not. I guess it depends on when their season starts. Does anyone know?

The SEL season starts on September 13th. So it could be a problem for AIK if Jensen have to stay another two weeks before he can come to Sweden.

NHL pre-season is usually the last 2 weeks in September so there's no way Jensen would be there before Oct. Depending on CBA talks obviously.

Looking at the Elite Prospects page for AIK:http://www.eliteprospects.com/team.p...1&status=stats
I notice that they had the leading point getter and goal scorer in SEL last year and lost both this off-season. Jensen should have a good oppurtunity to be a top line, PP, key guy for them.

Also...AIK has a pair of twins, both forwards!

Meh, not my first choice.

Only got promoted 2 years ago from the Allsvenskan, but went on a long run this past year. Just a note, only 2 "junior" players, which is what Jensen would be considered, played more than 10 minutes in those 2 years. One is a Dman (Nemeth), one is a fwd. And its very uncommon for junior players to step into any SEL team and get more than 10 min in their first season. So don't be surprised when he isn't handed a top line spot on a platter because he won't.
