Voting Cormier, as one poster had mentioned on another thread we need to represent our bilingualism............ whether he speaks french or not I have no clue but playing in the Q maybe he picked some up...now back to drinking.
Klingberg. I am surprised he is not higher on this list. It was just over a year ago where he was considered to be our top prospect before the 2011 draft. I guess that is a good thing since I don't believe he has taken a step back in his development. On the contrary, I think he actually proved that he is a viable NHL player this year. 37 points is actually pretty good for an AHL rookie. Though he did only have 2 points in 12 games in the playoffs, I think it was a valuable experience that will push him to perform next season.
Klingberg is awesome and I think he could contest Telegin for most likely to have top6 caliber but don't forget when looking at this years production:
"He scored on 4 off his first 9 shots and 6 of his first 16.
Thatís six goals in the first 6 games and 9 in the remaining 60."
But still, first year of NA pro... Pretty impressive.
Toss-up between Kulda and Klingberg for me. Klingberg is still a very intriguing prospect with top 6 upside, but he doesn't seem to fit into a bottom 6 role so nicely, so it might be top 6 or bust for him. Kulda is NHL ready shutdown defenseman, had to go with him due to the readiness.
For me it's Eddie Pasquale without a doubt. Eddie started last reason sharing the crease equally with two other guys, but by the play-offs he was THE GUY. The IceCaps rode Eddie into the play-offs, starting all 15 play-off games for St. John's. And if you can believe Brian Rogers, pbp guy for the IceCaps, he was outstanding most of those games.
I really think Eddie will be the Jets backup goalie in a couple of seasons. He's got the potential of being a starter in the NHL one day.
Klingberg actually disappointed me in St. John's and in his 6 games with the Jets in December. For me, the book is still out on him. He's got to prove this upcoming season that he is worthy of top prospect status. Some nights he was front and centre in St.John's, but that was few and far between. Most nights he just didn't seem to be a factor (based on how Rogers called the games over the radio that is).
