I'm a big believer in the fact that you have to put a player in a situation to succeed to evaluate him properly. I think Boyes's skill level is definitely higher then Pouliot...
His skill level was higher than Pouliot's at one point. But Boyes is 30, five years older than Pouliot, and his game has slowed down a ton. I live in Upstate NY and watch the Sabres often... he was terrible this year.
I'm not a big believer in re-signing Pouliot, either.
Rolston was horrible with the Islanders but played OK with Kelly on the 3rd line. I think Boyes could find his scoring touch again in Boston playing with Bergeron or Kelly.
The Islanders were "horrible", and while I`ll agree Rolston wasn`t exactly a huge success on the Island, it wasn`t like he was playing on a deep roster, and Rolston played much better than "ok", what allows him to compete is the fact he still has solid speed, Boyes is brutally slow.
Within a week of training Camp, threads here would be popping up at just how brutal Boyes looks
