That would be so funny.

Calgary drafted Lombardi as "revenge" for Edmonton drafting Stoll.

Both players were drafted by the other Alberta team and re-entered the draft.

Regarding the Burke/Murray situation, I'm not sure if Murray really wanted Kadri. What I remember is that Cowen was ranked top 5-8 in the draft but his rank dropped when he had a serious knee injury that season.

I do think Murray would have picked Kadri who seemed to be the healthier/safer pick, but I'm glad that Burke didn't listen to what Murray was about to offer as Cowen has recovered and looks like he could be something special for us....while Kadri hasn't exactly developed for Toronto the way we all were expecting.

He also did this to get Karlsson after he heard Burke was gonna take him (back in Anaheim).

Murray and Burke have a lovely history at the draft the past few years.

...with Murray usually coming on top.

San Jose has done this at times. They did it with Bernier, Couture, and Mcginn IIRC. Possibly even Setoguchi.

Yeah, I remember that. Burke was trying to offload Kaberle on Murray.

Yes. A few GMS after they left an organization or retired from being a GM, said that at the draft table if they were down to two or three players on their list and knew that the next team drafting wanted player X--they would take that player, not out of spite and one of the factors in deciding to take a player (especially if that team had a good drafting record).

Then you have the Bobby Carpentier draft where his dad was sitting when the caps took him. His father was sitting with the Harford Whalers table. No big loss of the whale, they took a guy name ron francis
