Who does EDM take with the 1st?

I am wondering what everyone is thinking, who does EDM take with the 1st over all pick, Murray or Yakupov?

I am hoping EDM takes Yakupov, yes they need dmen but Murray might be ready to play in the NHL but he will not make a big impact.

Yakupov gives us the secondary scoring that we lacked last year, plus most of our prospects are dmen.

Passing on Yakupov would be a BIG mistake.

This! Oilers have plenty of D prospects to play with...Marincin and Klefblom are both top pairing potential guys as well...not Murrays level, but top pairing nonetheless.

Take Yakupov every day and twice on Sundays.

It would be foolish not to take Yakupov at one. Murray is going to be a good defenseman, but he's so highly touted because of how NHL ready and safe he is as a pick. I don't think his ceiling is high enough to take him over Yakupov.

They will take Yakupov - smallish winger with great one-timer and average everything else. This will be one of the worst first picks in the recent history of the NHL drafts. Unfortunately the Oilers have been put in this position by the overall situation. There are better players in the draft but the Oilers do not have great leadership to change the course.

This Q could be, Yakupov or Chuck Norris. It's the same question! There is no way that they won't take Yak. If they go down, it's still Yak. Absolutely BPA.

haha what? This kid will be better then Hall and RNH in my opinion. He's broken Stamko's record, was dominate in the World Juniors. Even will Galchenyuk out he still had 69 points in 42 games. If any other team besides Edm had the 1st overall pick Yakopov would be the next big thing. Heck, I remember people saying at the end of the draft last year how Edmonton had such bad timing to finish last since they wouldn't be getting a super star player like Stamkos, Tavares or "Yakopov"

I could only imagine if Toronto or Montreal had the chance to pick him....

Suck three years in a row?? You flatterer you

More like since the lockout (excluding 05-06).

Honestly, compared to the few years after that run to the finals, I almost welcome these bottom-dwelling last few years. At least you get to watch potential develop and there's something to look forward to each year (the draft). That's an upgrade over watching a handful of sad looking vets piddle through season after season without hope in sight...

He has been called Jordan Eberle with elite speed, or Taylor Hall with Hands. But yeah I guess he must only have a good one timer to be deemed first overall talent.

Obviously as a Habs fan, I hope they take Murray. But it will be the Yak.

99.9 percent sure it will be Yakupov unless some GM gives Tambo an offer he can't refuse to trade down amongst the top 5.

Yak is in a class by himself and it would be very foolish to pick any other at #1.

The fans would run Lowe and Tambo out of town which in retrospect isn't a bad thing.

Doesn't matter. Have the Oilers really gone off the board in the past few years? Not really...

It's Tambo. I wouldn't be surprised. But it's also Stu MacGregor, so I could be conflicted.
And I would feel absolutely terrible.
