Yeah, I'm not going to take your opinion against people who watch him play.

He is 5"11", 189lbs as an 18 year old. Yes, he has a great one timer but you are the only one that says he is average at everything else. He has a lot of skills.

If they didn't want Yakupov, they could've traded the pick for a lot. It probably would've been the smart thing to do anyways...

Your hate for Yakupov is ridiculous . Average at everything else? Alright then, since you seem to think that, then please explain to us all why he is projected to go number 1? How come scouts that have watched him play several of times have him at the top of the rankings? But I guess we should all take your word for it since you, who probably hasn't even ever watched him play, thinks he is average at everything else.

He came in and put up 101 points as a rookie in Sarnia. Players that are average dont do that. Even with out Galchenyuk, he was lighting it up this year but slowed down a bit after getting injured. His work ethic is excellent, does whatever he can to score and he plays to win.

Btw, along with the great shot, he is an excellent skater, has good hands and underrated playmaking abilities. He is the complete package offensively and play him with a playmaker like Hemsky or Nuge and he will make an impact in the NHL.

I voted Yakupov because that's seriously what is going to happen.

However, it has been stated by the Columbus Dispatch that the price to swap picks between #1 and #2 is pretty low. That may indicate that Tambellini is looking to take Murray and assumes either he takes Murray at #1 and CBJ take Yakupov at #2 or they swap picks and CBJ take Yakupov at #1 and Edmonton takes Murray at #2.

This of course doesn't gel with the statements released by the Oilers to the tune that they haven't made up their minds yet and are going to take BPA over need.

Sick and tired of the Oilers selecting 1st, can they win a few games?

They only would've needed to win "a few games" to put them ahead of Montreal this year. Actually, they won more games anyway.

And Yakupov.

If they don't trade out of the pick, I will be absolutely livid if they don't take Yakupov.

I truly, genuinely, feel bad for Columbus losing the lottery. Yakupov is the clear BPA.

Where's the "other" option in this poll?
Nobody(they trade the pick) option would be nice too.

What? I don't hate Yakupov. He is actually a really nice kid, no he is a great kid with wonderful personality. Yes, I disliked some of his recent comments, which I thought were dumb.

However, when it comes to hockey, there is nothing personal, purely business. To me, there is just way too many red flags about this kid. I spoke with several specialists from Russia and many have the same opinion as myself - highly overrated. In fact, one specialist told me about him two years ago that he will be fairly limited player when it comes to top competition and I came up with the same conclusion watching him playing for team Russia at the juniors. He played exactly like this description from two years ago. It seemed like he hasn't changed at all. If you watched all 8 games where he played for Russia at the juniors you would understand that it was indicative that he did not score a single goal (I think he will probably be the first ever top NHL pick who had 0 goals after completing the whole IIHF tournament). At that level of competition you have to elevate your game and he did not manage to do that, and I know that he tried really really hard, he is a very hard working kid.

I hope that Nail will prove me wrong and becomes another great player for team Russia, but as of now, I just can't see it. I am afraid that the Oilers will be the biggest loser of this draft.

P.S. One more thing, this is just my personal opinion. His legs look like a wheel, they are not straight. I am not a doctor or a ligament specialist but I think at some point he will become injury prone when it comes to his lower body/knees, but that is just my personal opinion.

Just cause he didn't score in that tournament doesn't mean he wasn't contributing. Look at guys like Hopkins and Seguin who didn't even make their team yet they are doing just fine in the NHL. Also, his playmaking during that tournament was superb. There were times where he pretty much did it all himself and fed a pass that lead to a goal. He has proven that he can score in the OHL, you don't score 49 goals by fluke. He scored more then Hall did in the OHL. I'm not worried about his abilities to score goals at all.

Wow you're still bitter about the "I'm Muslim not Russian" comment.
