Artie plays his best hockey when he has some grit on his line. I think he feels like he has some protection and that ups his confidence. I think if you add a RW to play with Stepan and Kreider, and bump Callahan down to play with Anisimov, that's a step in the right direction. Add another guy who plays with an edge to the left side and you're golden. I've been on about Kyle Beach in Chicago for a while now. I think he'd be a great fit in a 3rd line role and he still has upside.
Of course the other option is to retain Dubinsky and keep the 'Pack line together.
This. Having Pack line as our defacto 3rd line means we really just need to add a RW to play with Kreider-Stepan. I really think that we don't need to trade anyone off of the roster, just add one UFA RW and another RD is all this team needs to improve on their performance from past season.
