Guess so, not sure what the problem is with this. They had to sign a 4/5 guy.
The problem is he apparently sucks. His career GAA is north of 3 (3.13). If he is the 5th okay but if he is 4th that makes York 3rd and that doesn't necessarily bode well. Not that York didn't work out but it was a very small sample.
I would have preferred a solid AHL who wanted a shot at the NHL, like Cedrick Desjardins, over McBackup. But it does provide the Jackets goalies with a veteran NHLer as a mentor and a goalie with NHL experience.
I could see Paul Dainton being resigned by the Falcons, but he may not have an NHL future. If the season started with McBackup/Dainton in Springfield and York in the ECHL, that gives York more starts and he can see AHL playing time when the injury bug hits.
If Mason gets traded/waived/bought-out/reassigned to a team in Siberia, then what happens with McBackup?
