I think a coaching staff capable of developing players would help a lot. Who on the hawks has gotten better since Q took over?

I wouldn't trade him until some kind of deal for a replacement was in place, though.

Frolik has negative trade value. You don't improve a deal by including him.

If we move Hammer but don't get Suter or Parise then as far as I'm concerned, we are back to the dark ages.

I mean seriously, the only difference between this team and the team at the beginning of last year is we switch Hammer for Oduya.

Oh, and no more Haviland. Whatever, at least we won the cup in 2010.

Yes. A Larry Robinson type is badly needed here. Hopefully the delay to replace Havs is not jeopardizing Hawks from getting the right guy for the job. In my mind this and the need for a #1 goalie are two of the more pressing needs to get this team back on track.

well i kinda feel silly now considering the guy in my avatar is an example of a player who's improved on the hawks. But I can't think of any other. In fact, out side of stalberg and maybe kopecky, they've pretty much stagnated or regressed across the board. And this is a relatively young team

This should just be merged with the Fire Bowman thread. If you don't make the poor Oduya and Montador signings, there's no need to move Hammer. He's not the right defenseman to move considering he can actually play defense, albeit not much else.

If he's moved it better be packaged for an upgrade on defense, not more picks and prospects for Bowman to squander.

We really suck balls for a team that finished with 101 points last year without our captain for over 20 games.

You know that's funny you say that. I was just thinking yesterday about how good a ****ing coach Larry Robinson is and how he needs to get back into a head coaching spot. I'd fire Q tonight if I knew I could get Robinson and I'm not really on the fire Q bandwagon. I can't properly evaluate him with 2 crappy goalies, no grit and the other obvious holes. It's not fair to judge him like that right now. One thing I do know, you stack a team up right and he wins Cups. I also know Bowman has a chance to do that just sitting on a ****ing tee for him with Suter, Parise and many others sitting on the market and a 70M cap.

DING DING DING

The Hawks need Cap space after resigning Oduya.

Here is a CRAZY! idea, don't resign Oduya and you have the cap space you need already and you can keep Hammer who is 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000X better then Oduya is on the best day he ever had.

Yeah I never wanted to see oduya in a hawk jersey again. I like that zack smith idea but somehow add to it to get foligno back as well. But I'm sure that is unlikely and it ends up as smith and a 3rd

well done Coldsteel, you missed the 2 most important reasons why Bowman wants to trade Nik

1. Open a Roster Spot
2. Cap Space

what I want back for Nik? A 3rd line Center that would play on our 4th line. Picks/prospects

We won't get a #2 Center or starting goalie for him

Bowman loves cap space. Cap space that will not be used.

Well, if they are going to bury Monty and Oz (if not bought out) then Wirtz is looking at a bunch of salary not doing squat. Let alone that Frolik should be buried in Rockford before Monty. Unless they already know Monty's noggin is scrambled and that is why they are burrying him.
