There is a possibility that Teravainen is the player that the Habs really want. If the Oilers pick Yakupov and the BlueJackets pick either Forsberg/Murray, then Galchenyuk will be available at 3rd. What kind of player/prospect/pick that the Leafs want to give to the Habs to switch the 5th to the 3rd pick.

Rugged defenseman, top 6th winger to play with Plekanec and Gionta, tough forward for the 4th line.

Or, we take Galchenyuk. Habs fans are thus happy, and Leafs fans are pissed. Win-win.

I'm a bit confused by this--and by the Dreger piece on TSN that suggest the need for a LW.

If Galchenyuk is there at 3, don't the Habs have to take him as their long-term 1C?

It seems to me more likely that they entertain offers for the pick if Galchenyunk is gone than if he is there...no?

If the Habs guy is someone other than Gal, better hope the other teams don't know it or else they won't bother moving up.

I'd imagine this is a stretch, but something like:

To Montreal:
5th overall, Clarke Macarthur, Korbinian Holzer

To Toronto:
3rd overall, Aaron Palushaj

It may be that our headscout prefer Teravainen over Galchenyuk. This is a possibilty. Teravainen may be gone at the 6th pick. Switching pick with the Leafs is the best bet as the Islanders will probably take a defenseman.

I'll give you Aaron Palushaj for two downtown Montreal franchises of Pizza Pizza.

Logic isn't there... If Galy is there at #3, MTL will take him. If they decide to take Teravainen, then Leafs don't have to do any trading to get him lol.

If Burke REALLY wants Galy, he's going to trade with CBJ, not MTL.

Nothing, the price would be so high there is no point in Burke even asking.

Columbus may want Forsberg and there is no certainty that he will be there at 5th.

Correct me if I'm wrong Habs fans, but I would assume the Galchenyuk would be the Habs number 1 favourite player (assuming there's no way Yakupov falls that far). I don't think they want to trade that pick without severe overpayment.

This.

I don't see a team with no potential number one center passing on a potential #1 center.....

What Habs' fans want is one thing. What the Habs' organization want is a different thing.

Teravainen may be as good or even better than Galchenyuk. You just don't know how these centers are ranked by Habs' headscout

We give up our fifth and either one of our best prospects or one of our very good wingers to move up two spots? When was the last time a trade like that happened?

Oh I have an idea, try the Franson + 5th overall for the 3rd overall. If not, try MacArthur + 5th overall for the 3rd. That should work out just great

What incentive does Montreal have to give up THEIR pick to land the best center prospect in this draft class to their rivals?

Your team just finished 2 spots lower than the team you make fun of and you have Scott Gomez on your team.
