I'm very glad this thread was met with strong opposition. I'm proud of all of you.
We all have our issues with Horcoff, but he's the captain, and has earned the right to his number.
Yak hasn't done squat in the NHL yet. When Horcoff's time here is done, that number can be his. But I bet he just sticks with whatever number he comes in with. I agree, 12 would be good.
This thread is a load of bollocks. Horcoff is a long-time NHL veteran and doesn't have to give up his number to anyone.
I don't hate horcoff, nor do I think he's the king of the fricken castle but he's the team's captain and has earned the right to choose (and keep) his number 10 jersey.
I don't see how that is the honourable thing to do.
It's actually really dumb to expect him to do it.
Yes it is, what a silly thread.
Yes, we all know that Horcoff isn't a very good hockey player anymore but it doesn't mean he is a dishonorable guy if he doesn't give up his #10 to a rookie. I agree that the hatred for the man has reached ridiculous proportions.
So again, Why should a 15 Year Veteran give up his number to a rookie?
Point don't really count because they will have vastly different roles.
Joking aside, If this rookie is given the option to choose a few numbers he'd liked to wear, with 10 being on his list, the 15 year VET should be made aware of the situation.

horcoff has had the number 10 longer the Nail has been playing hockey? The ROOKIE should be made aware of THIS situation

Pretty sure they guy offering the jersey selection would just say "Dude our captain wears that number, so no." Doubt it would ever get to Horcoff's ears. Nor should it.
Im sure Nail has looked at the Oilers enough to know not to ask for 10 anyway.
Try to wrap your minds around the fact that in no way has Yakupov been drafted yet or even asked for the #10, this is a request by a fan of the team who thinks the Human play killer should have to surrender his number to a rookie.
Is it funny, yes.
Doesn't make it right though.
as for the defenders of Horcoff how many games in the last three years have died on that guys stick?
He can keep his number, but his days of wearing the C should be over.
Let's hope the NHL does the honorable thing and sanctions some new symbol that can be used like a number just for Nail. I'm leaning toward the Batman symbol.
Yeah. That's the ticket.
let's see if bruce wayne does the honorable thing tomorrow then and hands over the keys to the batcave, cause lord knows it's been 4 years since his last movie...
Sense of entitlement much, I mean Yakopov is going to be good, but I didn't know he's a god. NHL is based quite a bit on seniority, numbers are no different. The order of the cup line is just one example.

If Nail were made aware of this ridiculous thread, I'm sure he'd be rolling his eyes quite hard. What a load of balls. One wonders if the OP has ever played a team sport before.
Why should a 15 year VET give anything to a rookie who has not done a thing
The hatred on this board for Horcoff is a joke and so are posters who ALWAYS find ways to bash a player who has done EVERYTHING this time has asked him to do. We get--MANY POSTERS HATE HIS CONTRACT
How is it honerable for a vet to give an unproven rookie his number? it would add pressure to the kid
Im flipping tired of coming on these boards and reading bone head comments like this, Horcoff is as bad as everyone here says he is, why because he gets put in situations he does not belong, heck Ryan Jones, Anton Lander, Sam Gagner damn it anyone else will do better given the same minutes and privlages that the tool Horcoff gets

sorry no he is not. He may not be a world beater--but he is nowhere near as bad as this joint makes him out to be.
