It's clear they're finally taking the approach that it's easier to convert a center to wing than vice versa. SundherCat have the speed to zip up and down the wing if they can't hack it at center. Kea could bang on the lower lines at wing if he can't hack it as an NHL center. About time they figured this out.

And Hudon hasnt been selected that I have seen, or one of my 5th round hopefulls Andrea Anastatiou (SP?)
Wasn't Anastasiou (sp) considered to be a potential 1st rounder earlier this year?

The Terrier fan in me wants them to grab Baillargeon or Lane as well.

i think the idea is that Kea better fits that 4th line role rather than him being higher on the depth chart than Cat or Sundher. With the glut of centers now in the system, will eventually need to be movement by some to other teams or to the wings.

Looking like there should be some talent on the board when they come up. Will be interesting to see if they try to get Grigs a Russian friend (Prokhorkin, Slepyshev, Gusev).

Athanasiou is either a boon or bust. Looks like teams are thinking a bust as he was a healthy scratch at times this year for London.

Athanasiou to Detroit, of course, in the 4th. Wings seem happy to pick up guys who've slipped (Frk, Athanasiou).

I definitely see what you're saying and could see the benefit. There was talk/profiling that Russians like to be on teams with other countrymen.

However, part of me is afraid that adding a "friend" that doesn't make it to the NHL may instead influence him to head to the KHL.

Is Nashville's pick (Zach Stepan) related to Derek?

I'm still mad about them not protecting Thorburn! I loved him and Goose together in Rochester. Towers of power.

Possibly. But I'd certainly prefer those guys to the Gregg Sutch's and Ced Henley's of the world.

Jfb, what are your thoughts on Florida's 4th rounder, Delnov? How does he compare to Prokhorkin, Slepyshev, and Gusev?

Haven't seen much of him, honestly.
Remember seeing his name at the U18's but that's it.

Prokhorkin to Kings. Rats. Makes sense with Voynov and Loktionov there, and Kopitar obviously being an Eastern European, as well.

Loktionov is a prime candidate to get moved there actually. I don't think there's a spot for him in the Kings lineup...especially after they added Carter.

Are you the one talking about how the CBA is going to make 5'8" players relevant? This team needs size: skilled size, grinding size, physical size. Size, size, size. Recent cup winners like Boston and LA have had huge teams, though never slow teams.
